Chapter Four
In this world, the great Path of the Wizard drew countless people to pursue it, but beyond that, there were other extraordinary paths, such as the Knight's Path.
The Knight's Path was divided into three levels: Knight Squire, Knight, and Great Knight.
A Knight Squire was at the beginning stage of the Knight's Path, referring to an ordinary person who had received systematic combat training and honed their physique to attain extraordinary strength.
To break through from Knight Squire to a true Knight, one had to condense a "Seed of Life."
This Seed of Life was the core of a Knight. It could greatly strengthen the body, causing a Knight's strength to soar.
A Knight with a Seed of Life could fight ten, even a hundred, on the battlefield. They were immensely powerful.
As for a Great Knight, that was an existence a step further beyond, transcending the ordinary, possessing astonishing strength, and truly ruling the battlefield.
Those three youths were precisely Knight Squires who had undergone Knight training.
Although they had yet to condense Seeds of Life, their physical abilities and combat techniques had long surpassed those of ordinary people after years of combat training.
They could even easily kill young, strong soldiers in the army, let alone these frail youths with no combat experience.
In theory, if these youths could unite, they might still have had a chance to contend against the three of them.
But reality was completely different—everyone saw the others as competitors and remained wary of one another, so naturally, they would not join forces.
For that reason, the three Knight Squires held an absolute advantage in this assessment.
Dealing with these defenseless youths was like crushing ants to them. They did not even need weapons; with their bare hands, they could easily crush someone's throat.
Within the Beast Field, the three began their "hunt."
They set off separately, prowling through the vast Beast Pen like predators as they coldly searched for prey.
Their goal was clear: kill these weak youths, complete the assessment quickly, and use practical action to "speed up" the assessment.
Meanwhile, the other youths remained immersed in their naive fantasies about the assessment rules.
Yet they had no idea that the three people hidden in the darkness had already regarded them as prey.
Deep within the Beast Pen, Lynn naturally had no idea that earth-shaking changes had already occurred outside.
He still belonged among those "naive youths" and intended to follow the rules.
However, he was somewhat different from the other youths.
He was already a First-Level Wizard Apprentice and possessed some ability to protect himself.
"Within the Basic Meditation Method, a First-Level Wizard Apprentice can master two Zero-Ring Wizardries..."
Lynn flipped to the relevant section, his gaze falling upon the pages as he studied them carefully.
These two Zero-Ring Wizardries appeared simple, yet each had its own uses.
The first was called Breath Concealment, and its effect was exactly as its name suggested: it concealed all traces of one's presence.
The second was Daze Spell, which could use spiritual power to instantly disrupt an ordinary person's consciousness and leave them briefly dazed.
A wizard's power came from using spiritual power to manipulate the energy particles between heaven and earth. That was the definition of wizardry.
However, only upon reaching Level 2 Wizard Apprentice could one barely use spiritual power to manipulate energy particles.
Therefore, theoretically speaking, a First-Level Wizard Apprentice could not use wizardry.
Yet everything had exceptions. Among wizardries were certain unique spells known as Zero-Ring Wizardries.
Zero-Ring Wizardry was the most basic and weakest category among all wizardries.
It required no assistance from energy particles and could be cast using only spiritual power and a few simple tools.
For that reason, Zero-Ring Wizardry was more like a "parlor trick" and was often used by beginners as introductory practice.
Lynn leafed through the Basic Meditation Method, carefully reading the material on Zero-Ring Wizardry.
Breath Concealment was one of them.
It required a specific tool. Using spiritual power, one "smeared" the tool's scent over one's own body, thereby concealing one's presence.
The book gave an example: when hunting Magic Beasts outside, one could blend the scents of the surrounding environment into oneself, confusing a Magic Beast's sense of smell and approaching the target without being detected.
Daze Spell was more straightforward.
It relied entirely on spiritual power and required no tools. One only needed to focus to instantly disrupt an ordinary person's consciousness and leave them briefly dazed.
To Lynn, these two Zero-Ring Wizardries were undoubtedly timely help.
What he lacked most right now was the ability to protect himself. Though these two Zero-Ring Wizardries were regarded as "parlor tricks" in the wizarding world, they would be of tremendous help to him at this moment.
With these two Zero-Ring Wizardries, he would at least have some means of reacting and escaping if someone attacked him.
"This place I chose is remote. I can raise the Earth Rhino Beast while learning these two Zero-Ring Wizardries..."
Lynn's gaze was resolute as he silently calculated his plan.
For other Wizard Apprentices, although learning Zero-Ring Wizardry was relatively simple, it still required a certain amount of effort and time.
But Lynn possessed the [Heaven Rewards Diligence] talent. He was full of confidence and believed he could completely master these two spells in a short time.
After determining his direction, Lynn began living a cautious, secluded life.
According to Scarred Man, there were ten days in total, and his main task was to raise the Earth Rhino Beast.
Following the knowledge he had learned earlier, he gathered specific foods each day to feed the Earth Rhino Beast, gradually improving its stamina and strength.
Aside from that, he devoted all his remaining time to studying the Basic Meditation Method, focusing on mastering Breath Concealment and Daze Spell.
Perhaps because he had chosen an extremely remote location, from the time Lynn left the crowd alone until the tenth day, he did not see a single person.
Ten days of careful feeding brought obvious changes to his Earth Rhino Beast.
The little beast had not only grown noticeably plumper, but the scales on its body had become increasingly black and glossy, while the color of its pupils had also become deeper and richer.
Lynn looked at the results of his work, his confidence swelling as he knew that the Earth Rhino Beast's strength had improved significantly.
At the same time, Lynn's own progress was equally gratifying.
Thanks to the [Heaven Rewards Diligence] talent and the relatively simple nature of Zero-Ring Wizardry,
he had completely mastered Breath Concealment and Daze Spell in just ten days.

As the first ray of morning light fell, Lynn put on his slightly worn robe, tightened his collar, picked up the much sturdier Earth Rhino Beast, and headed toward the agreed gathering point.
However, as he traveled, Lynn noticed that something was wrong.
He saw torn fragments of robes and corpses, and alarm rose in his heart. Though he had been wary of these "companions," seeing that someone had truly died in the Beast Pen still made his breathing grow heavier.
At first, Lynn thought it was only an isolated case, but as he continued outward, he discovered a huge number of "isolated cases." No matter how he thought about it, something was clearly wrong.
