A peach fell into Maitreya's lap.
Maitreya picked up the peach and looked up, only to see White Ape baring his teeth and grimacing at him, angrily throwing several more peaches down.
Maitreya said with a smile, "Though this old monk was not looking for you, meeting is fate. If this old monk takes you as a disciple and lets a demon immortal like you attain the true fruition, would that not be an immense blessing? Why are you, monkey, so unable to tell good from bad?"
White Ape curled his lip, crouched on the branch, and started gnawing on a peach.
Maitreya looked at the peach in his hand and smiled as he took a bite. Suddenly, White Ape burst into loud laughter from the tree, pointing at the peach and gesturing with hands and feet, indicating that he had already bitten it.
Maitreya smiled and turned the peach over. White Ape was instantly dumbstruck; the teeth marks he had left behind had long since vanished without a trace.
Maitreya Buddha smiled, then raised his eyes toward the miasma-soaring Northern Kuru Continent, and his smile slowly disappeared.
"If this monkey still is not the one this time, then I can only make a trip to Northern Kuru Continent," Maitreya sighed inwardly.
What Randeng did not know was that Zhun Ti's Gatha came in two copies, and the other copy was in Maitreya's hands.
What was recorded on this Gatha was the whereabouts of the source of ten thousand Buddhas, the Boneless Sarira, which Randeng had searched bitterly for many years without finding any lead.
