Lu Chuan began wandering around the city, wondering whether he ought to buy something for those subordinates of his, and for his sisters-in-law too. After all, the Heavenly Court was far too cold, quiet, and dull.
The Heavenly Court was a solemn and sacred place, so naturally it did not allow immortals and gods to do business, hawking their wares until it turned into a vegetable market. Still, things were better for deities with flourishing incense offerings; when people made sacrifices, they would also present fruit, pigs, sheep, and the like.
But if a deity's rank was not high enough, they could not build temples in the mortal world to receive incense. Or if they were mountain gods and land gods assigned to bitterly cold, deep mountains and old forests, then they had it rather miserable—year in, year out, they could hardly receive even a few sticks of incense.
"Boss, how much is this?"
Lu Chuan picked up an exquisite mask from a street stall and asked. It was fairly well made. The handicrafts of the present day had improved by who knew how much compared with the Yin Shang of those years.
The boss was a middle-aged man and had originally been greeting customers. Seeing someone come over, he smiled and said, "That kind is ten copper coins apiece, the metal ones are thirty copper coins apiece. Which kind would you like, honored customer?"
Lu Chuan shook his head.
The boss's smile faded. "Honored customer, this price is already very fair..."
"No!"
Lu Chuan suddenly lifted his head with a brilliant smile and said, "What I mean is, they're really too cheap. Boss, I'll take all of these goods today. Work out how much it is."
There were only a hundred or so masks. After Lu Chuan bought them,
