"You want to become a god too?"

Whis looked at Son Gohan and asked him that question.

To his surprise, Son Gohan immediately replied, "I don't want to become a god. I just want to be able to stand up and win humanity a chance at survival if one day a god decides to destroy mankind!"

Whis suddenly fell silent upon hearing that.

Only after several minutes did Whis speak again. "Did you foresee Lord Beerus destroying your planet?"

Son Gohan stopped what he was doing and said, "I foresaw myself being powerless in the face of that scene, able only to watch as my planet and my people faced the threat of death. If a savior hadn't appeared in the end..."

"That feeling of powerlessness, helplessness, and despair would be the greatest and most unbearable torment for someone like me!"

Whis pondered for a moment. "You're right. I can understand how you feel."

But then he changed the subject. "However, I cannot agree with what you said. The God of Destruction fulfills a duty bestowed by Lord Omni-King, the master of the universe. Only with destruction can there be birth. Life and death cycle endlessly, and that is what ensures the universe functions properly."

"If you intend to stop that, then you would become a factor the God of Destruction needs to eliminate. Do you understand what I mean?"

Son Gohan shook his head. "I'm not trying to interfere with the God of Destruction's duties. I only want to protect my planet, my parents, my people, and the one I love!"

He would never take on something like protecting every planet in the universe. Even the Supreme Kai could not accomplish that.

"However, there is one thing I need to offer an opinion on," Son Gohan suddenly said.

"Oh?
