Ahem!
Faced with Bulma's behavior, Son Gohan could only cough lightly twice to remind her to watch herself.
"All right, all right, I know why you came this time."
Bulma withdrew her "wandering hands" and said breezily, "The overall frame of that spaceship is already finished, but it'll still take at least another week before everything's done. After all, I still have to calibrate the equipment and run tests."
"Then, Big Sister Bulma, how is the gravity device I asked you about before coming along?" Son Gohan hurriedly pressed.
"If it were only a hundred times gravity, I'd have taken care of it ages ago. But you insisted on at least two to three hundred times gravity. That raises the requirements for both the hardware and the overall structure of the spaceship by a huge amount."
Bulma pinched the area beneath her nose and said, "Just the materials alone require a metallurgical plant to smelt special metals, then grind them to precise dimensions before sending them over. Why do I feel like I'm taking a huge loss this time?"
To be fair, in the entire Dragon Balls world, the financial and material resources needed to pull off this kind of research and physical manufacturing really belonged to none other than Capsule Corporation.
"Forget it. Who told me your dad and I are good friends, right?"
At this point, Bulma reached out again, placed her hand on Son Gohan's head, and rubbed it twice as she said, "Reluctantly, I'll give you father and son a thirty-percent discount. The spaceship's basic material costs are seventy million, the electronic equipment and such are forty million, the thrusters and related parts are fifty-three million, the gravity equipment on board is eighty-three million..."
"Adding everything up, the total price this time is nine hundred thirty-six million five hundred seventy thousand. After the discount and knocking off some of the odd numbers, the final price is six hundred fifty million. When you come to pick up the spaceship, remember, cash in one hand and goods in the other."
Son Gohan froze where he stood after hearing all that. He hadn't expected Bulma to actually charge him!
After coming to this world, Son Gohan had discovered that the currency value here was actually converted the same way as Japanese yen, but what reached his ears was converted into the price of red grandpas.
Six hundred fifty million.
Where the hell was Son Gohan supposed to get six hundred fifty million?
Even if he sold himself, he couldn't scrape that together!
"What, no money?"
Bulma leaned in front of Son Gohan and asked with a grin.
"Th-then, can I pay in installments?" Son Gohan asked helplessly.
"Installments? Sure!" Bulma immediately said. "The first payment has to be at least a hundred million, right?"
"When the time comes, I can bring you a more advanced spaceship to offset the price. It'll have lots of equipment on it that far surpasses Earth's technology. What do you think?"
Son Gohan made up his mind. When the time came, he would just snatch Frieza's spaceship and use it to pay off the debt.
Bulma stared at Son Gohan for quite a while before she smiled sweetly and said, "That's not impossible. Then let's do it that way. Remember to send it here when the time comes."
Phew...
Letting out a long breath, Son Gohan actually knew that Bulma was teasing him. She couldn't really ask him for money.
Fortunately, Bulma's family was not just ordinarily filthy rich. Otherwise, the resources of an ordinary scientist really wouldn't be enough to handle these things. After all, the funding required was still terrifying.
So Son Gohan simply stayed at Bulma's house for the time being and started preparing some necessary items while he was at it.
The Dragon Balls world actually had another BUG-like thing, and that was the Capsules invented by Bulma's family.
In Son Gohan's view, this thing was simply super black technology. Being able to fit an entire house inside was far too fantastical.
And in his previous life, some big shot on a forum had even analyzed it from a scientific perspective. Either it was ultra-material three-dimensional printing based on nano-level, or even smaller, robots, but the conversion rate for that would be far too low.
Or it used the properties of matter to shrink things, but then it couldn't get past the law of conservation of matter.
In the end, it could only be attributed to some miraculous spatial property. To explain it in the simplest sentence, it was: a world in a grain of sand.
But no matter which possibility it was, they found that it simply did not match the technological level of Earth's civilization where Bulma lived. So in the end, it could only be chalked up to black technology.
After all, later on, a big shot like Bulma could even build a Time Machine. That was something that completely surpassed what a level-five cosmic civilization should be able to touch.
Back to the point. After figuring out the characteristics of the Capsule, Son Gohan could actually shrink something with a space of over a hundred cubic meters down to the size of a capsule.
Inside were enough purified water and food to last Son Gohan, with his appetite, for a year, as well as a large amount of spare clothing and various office furniture. There was even a simple but sturdy house.
Son Gohan couldn't help sighing that technology really was a good thing.
Next was the Scouter from before. Bulma had already dealt with this thing a long time ago.
Bulma had also roughly explained the principle to Son Gohan. Inside, there was an electronic instrument capable of scanning and determining the strength or weakness of the energy in a target's body.
That data was then converted into a readable stream of numbers so the user could know the other party's combat power.
There was also an ultra-quantum communicator inside that could cross the universe. After all, it was communication technology capable of spanning distances measured in light-years and completely transmitting information for Vegeta and Nappa to hear.
Now Bulma had completely modified it into Earth writing, and she had also altered the communicator inside so it would no longer contact the evil Saiyans on that side.
Only then did Son Gohan realize that the black technology in this Dragon Balls world was not limited to just those few things. There were even more, and even more terrifying, things beyond imagination.
But what surprised him even more was something he had not noticed when reading the original work in his previous life, yet now felt terrifying the more he thought about it.
That was Bulma's frightening scientific research ability. She could modify a Scouter just like that, and she only used those ordinary tools.
The spaceship was the same. If she said she would build it, she built it. Those alien technological products had absolutely no technical barriers in front of her and were directly conquered and absorbed.
If... I could cultivate Bulma's technological ability as much as possible, could she build an incredibly powerful cosmic fleet?
This thought suddenly popped into Son Gohan's mind, but as soon as he thought of the supreme existence in this universe, he immediately dismissed the idea.
Before certain existences, so-called fleets of cosmic battleships were nothing more than something dealt with by lifting a finger.
"Is this combat power tester you mentioned really useful?"
Bulma brought the scouter up, looked at Son Gohan, and pressed the button.
Beep, beep, beep.
A large amount of data quickly appeared on the lens, then rapidly converged into a string of numbers.
"One thousand... one thousand seven hundred and forty-two?" Bulma murmured as she looked at the number on the lens.
"Big Sister Bulma, did you upgrade this scouter?" Son Gohan suddenly asked.
"I did. I replaced all the base materials and electronic components with the highest-grade configuration we currently have," Bulma replied.
"Then... get ready!"
