Hearing Elmer's explanation, Liam Graves's expression only grew tenser, his brow knotting tightly.

"Elmer, have you really checked everything thoroughly? Are you sure the elevator malfunction was merely an accident caused by aging? There were no magical traces of a curse or anything like that?"
"Liam, I understand your concern," Elmer replied. "All I can say is... I didn't find anything unusual, including the curse you mentioned."
"Still, there is another possibility. Since we're in different departments, perhaps I'm simply not as sensitive to curses..."
He gestured toward the open elevator doors. "Perhaps you could inspect it yourself? If you can find where the problem lies, then the Magic Repair and Maintenance Office can get to work on fixing it."
Only after the Hit Wizards had escorted the suspects away did Liam Graves raise his wand and enter the elevator with pursed lips.
Flickering light glowed at the tip of his wand as he cast various detection spells, carefully inspecting every inch of the elevator inside and out.
Elmer stood outside with his arms folded across his chest, waiting quietly.

"No..." Liam Graves shook his head, without the slightest sign of relief on his face. "It does seem to have been an accident caused by the elevator's age."
