Caught off guard by the sudden question, President Jacques paused, then frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"
"I mean..." Minister Bonaparte pressed, "your eldest daughter was previously in very poor health because of some magical illness."
"So, under arrangements made by Ministry of Magic staff, she went to Saint Landry for treatment. Mr. Lovegood cured that magical illness, and then she became a witch?"
President Jacques nodded. "Yes. I never imagined Laurence was... was actually a witch! Her anorexia was apparently a manifestation of her magical nature!"
Minister Bonaparte paid no mind to President Jacques's inability to distinguish between a Squib and a witch.
He simply needed a definite answer from President Jacques to confirm his suspicions.
Yet even after receiving that answer, he still wavered in his conjecture and could not help murmuring to himself, "Something like that... is it really possible?"
"What exactly are you planning to do?" Carl Gustafsson's voice had grown shrill, with a slight tremor running through his words.
He could no longer contain his fear of the unknown. "First you suddenly bring up the 'Paris Region Incident,' then you mention some Dark Magic creatures. This is a blatant threat!"
"I..." He swallowed with difficulty, his eyes instinctively flicking toward the other senior Muggle officials, only to find that these supposed colleagues had all looked away, not daring to meet his gaze.
Clearly, the senior Muggle officials who had conspired with him earlier were now all doing the same thing: distancing themselves from him and avoiding any response to him as much as possible.
"We!" Even in these circumstances, he took a deep breath and forced himself to continue. "We will never submit!"
"There are so many people watching! Mr. Lovegood, you must consider what consequences your next actions will bring!"
"May I take
