Bathed in the moonlight of the Middle East, Herpo stood like a shield-bearing warrior delivering a crushing blow. He thrust his wand forward, and a dark green shield formed before him, meeting an incoming silver-blue whip.

It was magic cast by Selina Pendragon. As the silver-blue whip lashed through the air, surging magical waves poured forth like a tide.

The dust and smoke rising from the battlefield were swiftly swept aside, spreading outward in rippling rings.

Boom!

The silver-blue whip collided with the dark green shield, and an even fiercer magical shockwave exploded in every direction. The nearest ring of mercenaries was thrown to the ground.

The mercenaries farther away were also shoved back by the blast, staggering several steps. Some cursed as they steadied themselves, pressing their rifle stocks tightly to their shoulders as they continued aiming at Selina Pendragon.

As that ring of mercenaries fell, those on the outskirts immediately moved in to fill the gap.

They did not repeat their earlier frontal charge. Two squads of mercenaries circled in from both sides, pulling their triggers with their guns aimed at Selina Pendragon. Their crossing fire formed a dense net of bullets.

Since Wizet had vanished into the Time Chamber, Selina Pendragon had lost track of how many times her side and Herpo's forces had clashed.

She only remembered that whenever she was about to crush the Isaiah Society's defensive line, another batch of mercenaries would fill in, as though this battle would never end.

But as long as she could delay Herpo's plans, their overall odds of victory would rise by another fraction.

Since Wizet had placed his trust in her, she would never let him down.

She had long since understood the special nature of the bullets used by these mercenaries.
