Being able to summon a Flying Broomstick was only the first step.
These brooms were all rather old, and summoning them was not easy.
Some Flying Broomsticks, even after answering the call, would fall halfway, and as they rolled across the ground, a few twigs would even drop out.
Once everyone could get a hand on the handle, Madam Hooch continued giving orders with caution.
She guided everyone through the starting posture and points to watch out for, taught a few little tricks, and demonstrated how to ride without slipping.
"All right..." She grew nervous, sweat beading on her forehead. "When I blow the whistle, you mount your brooms, kick off with both legs, and you'll fly into the sky."
"Do not be nervous! This is only a flying lesson, not a competition. There is no comparing yourselves to anyone else, and there is no pressure... Remember! Hold your Flying Broomstick tight!"
"When you rise, pull the handle upward. If you want to descend, lean forward and press the handle down, and the broom will take you back to the ground. Listen for my whistle... Do not be nervous!"
She bit the whistle between her teeth, mounted her Flying Broomstick first, her expression extremely cautious.
The students all followed suit, straddling their Flying Broomsticks.
As the whistle sounded, everyone rose into the sky together, without a single accident in between.
Madam Hooch's tone became much lighter. "Good! Now try landing. Don't rush. Just take it slowly!"
After they completed the descent, she taught everyone how to hover and turn in the air.
These were advanced techniques, and students who had only just come into contact with flying still needed time to adapt if they wanted to do them calmly.
Seeing Wizet make a beautiful S-shaped weave, Michael could not help saying, "Wizet, how do you know how to do that? Madam Hooch hasn't even taught it yet!"
Wizet shook his head. He also found it very strange. Why did flying feel as simple as drinking water and eating?
However, he quickly realized the reason—he was an Obscurial.
When he had crossed over, he had been floating in the form of an Obscurus. It was precisely because of an Obscurus's innate ability to fly that flying came so easily to him.
If he had not been worried about giving Madam Hooch too much of a shock, he would have flown higher and performed some even more difficult maneuvers.
Michael sighed and groaned. "How are you so skilled? I was clearly here first, and I was the first one to touch a Flying Broomstick..."
Chris teased, "You were indeed the first one to touch one. Then Madam Hooch shouted, and you got so scared you threw the Flying Broomstick away."
Terry chimed in, "Exactly! You abandoned it first, so that's why you fly like this now."
Michael raised his voice and tried to save face. "This Flying Broomstick is too old. Look... when it flies, twigs still fall off. I'm doing this for safety's sake!"
"Yes, for safety's sake. You make a good point. You can replace Madam Hooch and teach the class." Anthony was flying relatively high and mocked him from above.
"You're no better!" Michael immediately retorted. "And you keep boasting about some distant Auror relative. How can you ride a Flying Broomstick like that?"
He lay on the handle, clamped both legs tightly around the broom head, and flew forward shakily, making faces as he said, "This is what you look like riding a Flying Broomstick. Very safe, right?"
"When have I ever been like that?" Michael's mockery made Anthony's face flush crimson. "Tell me... am I like that?"
Only a few snickers answered him.
Wizet gently shook his head. "Safety first. There's nothing wrong with that."
"See!" With Wizet's approval, Anthony grew much more confident.
Michael giggled. "That's because Wizet is easy to talk to. Didn't you hear Chris and Terry laughing?"
"Damn it! Just you wait!" Anthony flew into an embarrassed rage, gritted his teeth, and rammed upward.
Michael was still laughing, and he had not stopped once, not at all worried that Anthony would actually crash into him.
Anthony had already lost his head. Without the slightest trace of fear, he flew straight into Michael, and both of their Flying Broomsticks let out wails at the same time.
They were like magnets of the same pole repelling each other. The instant they collided, they flew backward in two opposite directions.
"You two!" Madam Hooch sensed something was wrong at once and immediately blew her whistle. "Everyone! Back to the ground, now! Back to the ground, now!"
Before her words had even finished, she rode her Flying Broomstick into a high-speed dive and landed one step ahead of Michael.
She hurriedly threw down her Flying Broomstick and lunged forward, just in time to catch Michael. Neither of them was hurt.
"Look up there!"
The students screamed as they looked into the air. Anthony's Flying Broomstick was giving off thick green smoke, carrying him higher and higher as it slammed toward the castle.
"How am I supposed to keep doing this job!" Madam Hooch's voice held a trace of despair as she mounted her Flying Broomstick again.
She was too far from Anthony. There would probably be another injured student in class today, and who knew what Madam Pomfrey would nag about this time.
Just then, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a figure. "How can he be that fast?"
Wizet rode his Flying Broomstick straight into the sky, leaving an afterimage in the air.
The fierce wind roared beside Wizet's ears, and air rushed into his robes through his cuffs, making the long robes snap and rumble loudly.
The Flying Broomstick was indeed rather old. While its power was fully opened, it was also letting out mournful cries. But if he wanted to save Anthony, he could not let the Flying Broomstick stop.
At the very moment Anthony was about to crash into the castle window, Wizet had just raised his wand. "Accio Robes!"
Anthony's robe was suddenly caught by a force, preventing him from hitting the window. The Flying Broomstick beneath him gave a crack, finally unable to hold on any longer, and snapped into two pieces.
Anthony screamed as he fell downward, grabbing wildly with both hands, as if trying to seize a "lifesaving straw," but unfortunately, all he could grab was air.
The real "lifesaving straw," Wizet, controlled his Flying Broomstick and shot downward like an arrow loosed from the string, casting another Summoning Charm.
Anthony's fall slowed again, but just then his robes gave a tearing sound. They could not withstand a third Summoning Charm.
Wizet was not surprised. He had expected this to happen and had prepared a backup plan.
He had not been idle that week. Besides integrating everything he had learned, he had used his remaining time to explore Hogwarts Castle.
But the castle was simply too vast. The secret passages and hidden chambers it contained were countless, and he could only do his best to explore them.
The ancient magical power he had gathered during this time was enough for him to strengthen and improve his magic.
There were still many ingenious uses for the Summoning Charm, and he decided to further enhance its abilities.
The current Summoning Charm could seize larger creatures—for example, Anthony, who was about to crash to the ground.
Quite a few students covered their eyes. A bloody scene seemed to surface before them—Anthony's skull smashing apart at the back of his head, blood splattering all over the ground.
"Anthony, come here!" Wizet barked. Ancient magical power poured into his wand, and in an instant, the wand lit up with a dazzling silver-blue glow...
