As Wizet's understanding of the Wizard's Practical Guide, Ancient Magic Power, and various spells deepened, he used Ancient Magic as a vessel to incorporate his own understanding of magic.

Snape had failed to notice the ring of fire immediately because he had not perceived the properties of Ancient Magic: Fire Mastery;

And the flames on his robes could not be extinguished, forcing Snape to cut away the burning fabric, because Wizet had incorporated his understanding of Protego Diabolica into Ancient Magic: Fire Mastery.

Wizet shifted from defence to offence and rapidly closed in on Snape. A vivid crimson glow appeared at the tip of his wand, transforming in an instant into a flaming whip that lashed at Snape in a startling arc.

Just as Snape dispersed the flaming whip, another ring of fire appeared, spreading outward with Wizet at its centre.

"The situation has reversed!" the commentator cried excitedly. "Just when we thought 'Viktor' held every advantage, and victory was only a matter of time..."

"'Noss' has launched an extraordinarily effective counterattack! Who would have thought he had another trick up his sleeve? His command of fire magic is incredible—now it is 'Viktor' who has been pushed into a disadvantage..."

The craters and dents across the duelling platform now held clusters of flames that continued to burn. Even the magical energy field protecting the spectators had been dyed a fiery red.

The judges wore grave expressions as they stood ready. They certainly did not doubt the strength of the two duellists on the platform;
