"Mr. Lovegood, since you call her an 'innocent lady,' and her name is not on the list of victims provided by the tournament organizers, it seems she did not become a werewolf."
"If something happened to her, I suggest contacting Ludo Bagman. He is the head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, as well as Bertha Jorkins's superior. He knows the situation better than I do."
While Barty Crouch Sr. studied Wizet, Wizet was doing the same.
He noticed that Barty Crouch Sr.'s face remained calm as he spoke, his tone showing little fluctuation.
Barty Crouch Sr. first briefly laid out his conclusion, then offered his own advice. The entire process displayed the seasoned competence of a department head.
It showed that he knew the Ministry of Magic's personnel changes well and could swiftly provide appropriate advice.
Most importantly, Barty Crouch Sr. had thoroughly distanced himself from the matter.
It was as though he was merely an outsider and, because they were all Ministry of Magic employees, was willing to say a few extra words out of courtesy.
If Wizet had not possessed evidence and had merely tried to draw Barty Crouch Sr. out through speculation, he might even have begun to doubt whether his guesses were wrong.
After saying this, Barty Crouch Sr. took a sip of black tea and glanced sideways at Dumbledore.
Dumbledore was also drinking tea, still holding a frosted biscuit with a bite taken out of it. There was no sign whatsoever that he intended to intervene.
