Lucius Malfoy's Uneasy Night

Draco stood before the tent flap, watching Lucius fiddle with the Omnioculars.

"Dad..." Draco asked curiously, "what are you looking at?"

Lucius extended the Omnioculars beyond the tent flap and peered toward a certain spot.

With the aid of the Omnioculars, he could see two Hit Wizards appearing near a distant tent.

That tent belonged to the Avery Family, one of the pure-blood families planning to stir up trouble tonight.

Wanting to see the two Hit Wizards' expressions more clearly, Lucius immediately moved his fingers and turned the corresponding dial on the Omnioculars.

The two Hit Wizards narrowed their eyes slightly, their arms folded before them and their hands tightly gripping their wands. They looked thoroughly on guard, a stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere around them.

Clearly, the two Hit Wizards had received instructions to remain on guard around the Avery Family's tent.

Lucius was still somewhat surprised by this. He had not expected Wizet's arrangements to be so thorough, or that he could even direct Hit Wizards to handle matters for him.

If Lucius spent some Gold Galleons, he too could get Hit Wizards to do a few things for him, but it usually required advance preparation, and the efficiency certainly would not be this high.

Unless he paid more Gold Galleons...

Hearing Draco's question, Lucius lowered the Omnioculars, stroked the back of Draco's head, and said, "I'm waiting to watch the fireworks..."

"Fireworks..." Draco had little interest in Magic Fireworks, and after expending too much energy watching the match tonight, he said nothing more. He wished his father good night and returned to his room to rest.

Lucius glanced at the clock hanging on the wall and raised the Omnioculars to his eyes again.
