Mad-Eye Moody's Class

Over the previous school year, under Remus Lupin's instruction, the students had gradually come to understand the importance of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Rather than rigidly teaching theoretical knowledge, Lupin had guided the students through practical exercises, helping them master one spell after another.

His classes had also featured quite a few Dark creatures. He had led the students in observing them and identifying their traits and weaknesses.

After a full year of instruction, the students' understanding of Defense Against the Dark Arts had improved tremendously.

Moreover, the students' enthusiasm for the subject had also risen noticeably.

When the new school year arrived, Defense Against the Dark Arts did not disappoint them either.

For Mad-Eye Moody's first lesson, he had introduced the students to the three "Unforgivable Curses."

As a former legendary Auror, Moody openly casting the three Unforgivable Curses in class showed that, just like his nickname "Mad-Eye," he truly had a madman's streak.

According to Moody, he had received Dumbledore's permission, which was why he openly demonstrated the three Unforgivable Curses in class.

That was only one reason. Moody also gave what he considered the more important reason—there was often an advantage in learning about illegal Dark magic as early as possible.

If one could not even recognize the various kinds of Dark magic, then protecting oneself with magic was out of the question.

"Fred and George are being mysterious again!" Michael Corner said indignantly as they headed toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

Anthony Goldstein asked casually, "What new trick does Defense Against the Dark Arts have this time?"

"No idea what new trick it is..." Michael shrugged. "They just said Professor Moody really knew how to teach, that he was absolutely incredible..."
