As October drew to a close, the Scottish Highlands had truly entered autumn.

The morning mist hanging over the valleys grew thicker, and Hogwarts Castle was permeated by a chill that would not disperse.

The weather became unpredictable again. Just when you thought it would not rain and you could enjoy an outdoor lesson, the sky would suddenly darken, and a fine, drizzling rain would quietly begin to fall;

If it rained after nightfall, the drizzle would turn into icy pellets, pattering against the leaves with a rustling sound.

The atmosphere around the school seemed to have entered autumn as well. The corridors outside the selection assessment classrooms had grown quiet, and far fewer students were coming and going from the library.

There was less discussion about the selection assessments too. Lately, the topic students discussed most was probably Alastor Moody's practical combat training...

The dismissal bell rang. Michael Corner sat in the wheelchair Wizet had conjured, while Anthony Goldstein pushed him out of the classroom.

"It was terrifying..." Michael tried to move his thigh, but cold sweat immediately broke out across his forehead. His whole face twisted as he kept sucking in sharp breaths through his teeth.

"It certainly was terrifying..." Chris Moen clutched his stomach, shaking all over with laughter. "You did an entire set of ballet moves!"

"Splits, turns on your toes... you even leapt into the air and did the splits! I guarantee it! You must be incredibly popular with the girls now!"

"Hiss... phew..." Michael let out a breath, his face no longer quite as contorted as before. He asked skeptically, "Are you sure?"

Before Chris could answer, a burst of girls' laughter came from behind them.
