A ball of light burst from the tip of Draco's wand, rapidly expanding and radiating an incomparably dazzling white glow, as though a blazing sun had appeared at the bottom of the lake;
In an instant, all the screens showing Harry, Draco, and Cedric turned into a vast expanse of white.
The blinding light did not last long. The images on the screens shifted from pure white to pure black;
An exceedingly brief, suffocating silence filled the darkened screens, until screams began to rise one after another;
Just from hearing those heart-rending screams, the audience could vaguely imagine the scene: the Merpeople and Grindylows were covering their eyes, struggling miserably at the bottom of the lake...
Ludo Bagman stared at the pitch-black screen. "What a surprise! Malfoy actually hid such a trump card!"
"The power of that spell is quite astonishing! Even the magical devices in our hands were affected."
"Dumbledore, is this really all right?" Malice flickered in Karkaroff's eyes. "That rather terrifying spell seems to have blinded the Merpeople. How do you intend to explain this to them?"
"Mr. Karkaroff, thank you for your concern." Dumbledore blinked. "Once the second task is over, I will have a proper talk with Murcus and discuss how we should compensate them."
After dealing with Karkaroff, Dumbledore looked at the pitch-black image on the screen and stroked his beard with a smile. Harry, Draco, and Cedric's performances had all satisfied him greatly;
Draco's performance in particular had surprised him somewhat. He had not expected Draco's most proficient spell to be the Illumination Spell;
Nor had Draco, like the other Malfoys, looked down on such a basic spell. He had even given it a unique effect.
"How wonderful..." Dumbledore could not help but sigh. "They've all become better versions of themselves!"
