Let me reiterate: although Orsted brought us into the ruins, these were absolutely not Dragon Race ruins.
The carvings, statues, and murals throughout the ruins had basically nothing to do with the Dragon Race. Even the occasional giant dragon was depicted as a villain in the murals.
After we reached the interior of the ruins, Orsted explained the situation to us.
"This is the tomb of the First Water God. Although we of the Dragon Race sealed this place, there is no danger inside. You may move about freely. Other than the coffin at the top, which must not be touched, you may explore anywhere else.
"I need to go deeper inside to retrieve a treasure. Once I return, Dolin will take you to see the Water God's inheritance."
Nanahoshi and I nodded in turn, and he left.
Although he had said the ruins were relatively safe, Nanahoshi did not go sightseeing alone. Instead, she followed behind me as we moved together.
Thanks to Bradycond's daily lessons, I could understand some Ancient Elven writing. Though I was still only half-familiar with many characters, it was like a Chinese person ordering food in Japan. Most of the characters looked similar, perhaps differing by only one or two radicals.
Judging from what I had seen so far, these ruins were likely a tomb built around eight thousand years ago, during the First Human-Demon War. The murals depicted various scenes of humans and demons fighting.
One scene appeared repeatedly: a female elf warrior wearing fitted armor and a full helmet, battling demons.
Why did I say she was a female elf? Her ears protruded through gaps in the fully enclosed helmet, and the armor had a pronounced chest, so it was not hard to guess.
I suspected she was the First Water God,
