Ch. 281World Pirates

Byrnndi World and the World Pirates fled Akainu Sakazuki’s relentless pursuit aboard the burning Guroseadi. World’s bitterness toward his old crew drove them to confront him with the sacrifices they had made during his imprisonment, while Akainu remained determined to capture him.

  • Akainu’s attacks badly wounded World and set the Guroseadi ablaze, forcing the World Pirates to flee.
  • Nightin tried to tend World’s wounds, but he insulted her, and she left in tears.
  • Binjack reminded World that he and the officers had spent decades preserving the crew and building the Guroseadi in hopes of rescuing him.
  • World left without forgiving his crew, unsettled by whether they were traitors, companions, family, or subordinates.
  • Akainu pursued the Guroseadi and vowed to capture World, despite the cost to his fleet.

Ch. 282Cube-Cube Fruit and the Red Count's Current Situation

Byrnndi World sought help from the Desolate Dragon Group as Akainu continued pursuing his crew, while Huanglong prepared to confront Akainu and learned that the Red Count had reached Suigu Town in search of the Vampire Fruit. The chapter left Huanglong arranging for Nico Robin to translate the Red Count’s ancient mural before Garp caught up with him.

  • Gairam warned Byrnndi World that the Guroseadi was running low on fuel, and World said he had contacted the Desolate Dragon Group for help.
  • Gairam informed Binjack, Nightin, Sebastian, and the other crew members that the Desolate Dragon Group was coming to rescue them.
  • Nico Robin reported that Huanglong’s divine soldiers were guarding routes to the Sky Islands against the World Government and other intruders.
  • Huanglong kept his focus on Akainu rather than waiting for the Five Elders to investigate the Sky Islands.
  • Lafitte told Huanglong that the Red Count had escaped Aokiji and Garp and reached Suigu Town, where he needed Robin to translate an ancient mural.
  • Huanglong connected with the Red Count, who was accompanied by Pato and warned that Garp might catch up soon.

Ch. 283Mythical Zoan: Vampire-Vampire Fruit

Red Count ate the Mythical Zoan Vampire-Vampire Fruit, regained his youth by drinking Marine officers’ blood, and escaped Garp and Kuzan. Meanwhile, the Desolate Dragon Group learned that World Government forces were approaching the sky islands and evacuated Angel Island while continuing their pursuit of Akainu.

  • Red Count ate the Vampire Fruit, learned from Huanglong that drinking blood would restore his youth, and left with Pato to test its power.
  • Red Count fought Marines near Suigu Town, drank the blood of several Marine Major Generals, and escaped Garp and Kuzan as a vampire bat in a rejuvenated state.
  • Garp and Kuzan recognized that Red Count had become a greater threat, and Kuzan ordered the Marine fleet to withdraw to Headquarters.
  • Saint Marcus Mars and his disguised party reached Bika, defeated its divine soldiers with Conqueror’s Haki, and alerted the World Government’s sky-island forces.
  • Huanglong ordered the remaining Angel Tribe members to evacuate Angel Island while the Desolate Dragon Group continued toward Akainu and a.k.a. World.
  • The sky-island residents and Heaven’s Gate officers evacuated, while surveillance Den Den Mushi and Vegapunk monitored Angel Island for the World Government’s arrival.

Ch. 284World's Crisis

Byrnndi World’s island ship ran out of fuel and ammunition as Akainu’s fleet caught up, and World refused to retreat inside despite his crew’s warnings. Sebastian was gravely wounded while sinking a Marine warship, but World forgave him; the Marines then boarded the island ship as Akainu advanced to capture World.

  • Gairam reported that the island ship’s fuel and giant shells were exhausted, while Akainu’s fleet had lost only two warships.
  • Gairam suggested that the crew retreat inside the Guroseadi and use its maze-like interior to delay the Marines, but Byrnndi World refused and went to face Akainu.
  • Sebastian sank another Marine warship before Vice Admirals and Rear Admirals gravely wounded him and forced him back onto the island ship.
  • World promised to avenge Sebastian, then fired enlarged bullets at Akainu’s remaining ships as the Marines advanced.
  • Akainu’s fleet caught up with the powerless Guroseadi, and Marine officers and elite Marines charged aboard.

Ch. 285Battle of the Guroseadi

Akainu and his Marines invaded Byrnndi World's island ship, Guroseadi, and fought through heavy destruction as World tried to evade Akainu and protect his crew. Gairam trapped many Marines in a labyrinth, but Akainu exploited World's concern for his men to burn and injure him.

  • Akainu ordered Guillotine Jirochi and Tucha to capture the pirates while Byrnndi World attacked the advancing Marines with accelerated rubble.
  • World evaded Akainu and slaughtered Marine troops, while Akainu's magma attacks set Guroseadi's forests ablaze.
  • Tucha and Guillotine Jirochi formed a defensive firing line with six Major Generals, forcing World to attack from a distance.
  • Gairam collapsed the ground beneath the Marine formation and trapped many soldiers in a shifting labyrinth.
  • Jirochi and Tucha broke open the ground and led Marine officers into the labyrinth while Akainu continued pursuing World.
  • Akainu noticed World's concern for his crew, struck him with a magma fist, and severely burned him.

Ch. 286The Desolate Dragon Strikes

Akainu pursued and badly injured Byrnndi World, burning and destroying much of the Guroseadi. World’s crew prepared to hold out until the Desolate Dragon Group arrived, while Huanglong flew toward the island and Akainu confronted World again.

  • Akainu set the Guroseadi ablaze and pursued World through Gairam’s maze, melting walls and barriers as he went.
  • Gairam urged World to escape by boat, but World refused to abandon the island ship and called the Desolate Dragon Group for help.
  • Lafitte told World the group was nearby, and Huanglong promised to arrive in three minutes.
  • Akainu found World and his crew in the deepest maze and attacked them with Great Eruption.
  • Gairam, Nightin, Binjack, and Sebastian fled through the maze while World stayed behind to hold Akainu off.
  • Huanglong flew toward the black smoke and declared that the Desolate Dragon Group would take Akainu’s Magma-Magma Fruit ability.

Ch. 287World vs. Akainu

Akainu fought Byrnndi World in the underground labyrinth while trying to defeat him before Dongye Huanglong arrived. Elsewhere, the World Pirates officers were surrounded by Marines and faced a worsening crisis.

  • Akainu learned that Dongye Huanglong was coming and attacked Byrnndi World, who used Armament Haki and his More-More Fruit to fight back.
  • World dodged Akainu’s attacks with hundredfold speed and cut him with an enlarged sword, but Akainu’s Logia body turned into magma and spread across the blade.
  • Akainu unleashed Magma World, flooding the labyrinth with magma as he and World resumed their deadly pursuit.
  • Vice Admiral Guillotine Jirochi found the fleeing World Pirates officers, and Nightin, Sebastian, and Gairam fought him.
  • Vice Admiral Tucha and other Marine officers joined the battle, surrounding the World Pirates members and putting them in crisis.

Ch. 288Desolate Dragon Group Arrives

Huanglong and the Desolate Dragon Group arrived at the Guroseadi just as Vice Admiral Jirochi was about to kill Sebastian. After Boa Hancock turned Jirochi to stone, Huanglong and his allies entered the magma-filled labyrinth to find Captain World and confront Akainu.

  • Sebastian held off the Marines while Gairam and Nightin fled through the collapsing cube labyrinth, then warned the Guillotine Vice Admiral that the Desolate Dragon Group was coming.
  • Jirochi prepared to kill the exhausted Sebastian, but Huanglong arrived and blasted the Vice Admiral away with a lightning-wreathed Flame Dragon Breath.
  • Enel and Bullet rushed into the magma passage to find Akainu, while Boa Hancock petrified Jirochi with a barrage of arrows.
  • Sebastian begged Huanglong to save Captain World and his companions, and Huanglong gave him a Blood Crystal Dandelion before sending Kuma, Bonney, and Gecko Moria deeper into the labyrinth.
  • Huanglong warned Law and Lafitte about the danger below, then jumped into the Magma World to confront Akainu.

Ch. 289Akainu's Resolve

Akainu fought Bullet in the magma-filled underground labyrinth while the Desolate Dragon Group surrounded him. As Akainu prepared to destroy the island ship rather than be captured, Huanglong ordered Seraphim Heavenly Path and Human Path to lift it.

  • Enel sensed that Akainu’s magma had permanently transformed the labyrinth, while Byrnndi World surfaced from the magma and warned Bullet not to underestimate Akainu.
  • Bullet entered Devil Form and charged Akainu, who emerged from the magma and realized the Desolate Dragon Group had him surrounded.
  • Huanglong arrived, and Akainu began melting deeper into the island ship so he could sink it and take his enemies down with him.
  • Bullet clashed fists with Akainu, who blocked his Conqueror’s Haki-enhanced attack and mocked its weakness.
  • Huanglong recognized that the island ship was doomed and contacted Seraphim Heavenly Path and Human Path to lift it with their gravity and Float-Float abilities.

Ch. 290Akainu's Plan Failed

Akainu tried to sink the Guroseadi and take Dongye Huanglong’s group down with him, but Huanglong made the island ship rise and seized Akainu. The Desolate Dragon Group prepared to continue the Admiral hunt on deck while Marine Headquarters could only watch in despair.

  • Kuma, Bonney, Gecko Moria, and the Desolate Dragon Group’s executives defeated and captured Vice Admiral Tucha and the Marines in the middle-level labyrinth.
  • Sengoku received the fleet’s distress call, while Saint Marcus Mars found the Desolate Dragon Group’s Sky Island headquarters deserted and destroyed much of Angel Island in anger.
  • Imu and the Five Elders decided to rebuild the Holy Land, and the World Government raised Celestial Gold to pay for it.
  • Akainu melted through the Guroseadi’s bottom and sent seawater rushing into the labyrinth, trying to sink the ship and kill Dongye Huanglong’s group.
  • Huanglong made the island ship float again, blocked Akainu’s attack, and dragged him to the top deck as Bullet and the others followed.

Ch. 291Akainu Sakazuki Defeated and Captured

The Desolate Dragon Group overwhelmed Akainu after a prolonged battle and captured him alive, while the World Pirates lost their island ship. Morgans prepared to publicize the defeat of a Marine Admiral.

  • Huanglong struck Akainu into a crater, and the Desolate Dragon Group gathered to watch as Bullet and Enel fought him.
  • World found Binjack, Nightin, Sebastian, and Gairam alive, but the battle reduced the Guroseadi to wreckage.
  • The Desolate Dragon Group rotated its fighters against Akainu, and Bullet challenged him to a prolonged duel before Huanglong stepped in and subdued him.
  • Huanglong ordered Akainu bound in Seastone and imprisoned inside Bege, then told World the ruined island ship would be returned to the sea.
  • World asked to keep the Guroseadi's main cannon, and the five World Pirates watched their island ship sink as the cannon followed the Ark Maxim.
  • Morgans celebrated the destruction of Akainu's fleet and prepared another major headline.

Ch. 292Prison Warden Isaac

After Akainu's defeat left the Marines and World Government scrambling to strengthen their defenses, Saint Saturn summoned Isaac to Mary Geoise as CP Chief. Isaac accepted, intent on using the position to investigate the Origin Power he called Shiki and uncover the secrets of the Five Elders and Im.

  • News of Akainu's defeat spread, and Sengoku the Buddha kept Marine forces on defense while discussing a worldwide military draft with the Five Elders.
  • Kizaru, Momousagi Gion, and Chaton Kake refused CP positions, so the Five Elders eventually transferred Kuromaruten Sei to guard Mary Geoise and released the others to Marine Headquarters.
  • Saint Saturn ordered Isaac, the supreme warden of New World Prison Island, to return to Mary Geoise and serve as CP Chief while continuing his research.
  • Isaac accepted the appointment and described Shiki as the Origin Power behind Devil Fruits, Haki, life force, and other abilities.
  • Isaac resolved to learn the secrets of the Five Elders and Im, then left his laboratory aboard a warship bound for Mary Geoise.

Ch. 293Shiryu's Devil Fruit Ability

Issho remained a wanted wanderer as the World Military Draft strengthened the Marines and increased pressure on the World Government’s affiliated nations. On God Island Apis, Shiryu gained Dr. Indigo’s Druid Fruit ability, while the Desolate Dragon Group considered its next move against Mary Geoise.

  • Issho regretted losing his chance to join the Marines and continued wandering, refusing to join the Desolate Dragon Group or the Revolutionary Army.
  • Aramaki earned a Candidate Admiral position and Spadam secured a Marine Headquarters vice admiral position as the draft replenished Marineford’s forces.
  • The World Government completed Mary Geoise’s protective barrier and began building one around Marineford, while increased Celestial Gold burdens gave the Revolutionary Army room to grow.
  • Huanglong let Shiryu claim Dr. Indigo’s Druid Fruit ability, and Shiryu used Pacifista Teach to kill Dr. Indigo and transfer the ability to himself.
  • Red Earl Rayleigh returned to the floating islands with Bake-danuki Pato and refused to let the group make backups of their Mythical Zoan blood.
  • Byrnndi World urged Huanglong to attack Mary Geoise, and Huanglong warned that the World Government’s strength still exceeded the group’s.

Ch. 294The Desolate Dragon Group's New World Plan

Huanglong set the Desolate Dragon Group’s plans for entering the New World, choosing to target Doflamingo and Ochoku while watching the growing alliances among the Yonko. The chapter ended with Robin drawing attention to the rising Straw Hat Luffy.

  • Huanglong told Red Count and Byrnndi World they could leave the group and agreed to provide Redfield with an Aerial Warship and Moon robots.
  • Redfield and the World Pirates departed God Island to begin their own adventure.
  • Huanglong’s crew discussed possible targets, including the Donquixote Family, Ochoku’s Wang Zhi Pirates, and the Whitebeard and Red-Haired Pirates.
  • Huanglong ordered the group to plan a New World route through Dressrosa and Hachinosu Island and to strike Marine branches and affiliated nations along the way.
  • Robin showed Huanglong and Kuma the Supernovas’ bounty posters and reported that Straw Hat Luffy had earned a bounty exceeding 100 million Berries.

Ch. 295Straw Hat Luffy Is Sun God Nika

Huanglong revealed that Monkey D. Luffy was Dragon’s son and the user of the Sun God Nika Fruit, then ordered the Desolate Dragon Group to proceed with its New World campaigns. He later considered how Mythical Zoan blood and growing recognition might be changing and strengthening his divine dragon form.

  • Huanglong told Kuma, Bonney, Robin, and Trafalgar Law that Luffy was Dragon’s son and the user of the Sun God Nika Fruit, though his power remained unawakened.
  • Kuma wondered whether Luffy might be the Drums of Liberation, but Huanglong rejected relying on prophecy, and Bonney declared her faith in Huanglong.
  • Barrett, Bege, Enel, and the Pirate Empress reacted dismissively or scornfully to Luffy, while Kuma tried to discourage the group from targeting him.
  • Huanglong directed the Desolate Dragon Group to prepare campaigns against Dressrosa and Hachinosu Island, anticipating possible intervention by the World Government and rival pirates.
  • Huanglong reflected that blood from Mythical Zoan users he had killed had made his dragon horns and scales harder, and wondered whether recognition and faith could further perfect his form.

Ch. 296Celestial Dragon Ancestral Homeland

Huanglong learned to use several new abilities gained from Mythical Zoan blood and approved the Desolate Dragon Group’s New World campaign. After revising their targets to prioritize the Kingdom of Adams and the Mars Kingdom, he sent the group’s Flying Fleet sailing.

  • Huanglong gained minor recovery and healing abilities and the power to change the size of his Divine Dragon form by using the blood of a kappa, the Great Monk, and a druid.
  • Robin and the other strategists planned a New World campaign that included nearly ten targets, and Huanglong became interested when he learned the Kingdom of Adams was a former Celestial Dragon homeland.
  • Robin explained that the Mars Kingdom was another wealthy Celestial Dragon homeland and that Saint Marcus Mars had once come from there; Bonney vowed revenge for Angel Island, while Kuma warned the group about the risks of attacking too many targets.
  • Huanglong chose to prioritize the Kingdom of Adams and the Mars Kingdom after dealing with Doflamingo, postponing attacks on Marine branches and Hachinosu Island.
  • Robin, Lafitte, and the other strategists revised the route, and Huanglong ordered the Desolate Dragon Group’s Flying Fleet to sail for the New World.

Ch. 297Setting Out for the New World

The Desolate Dragon Group prepared a massive flying fleet and set out for the New World to display its strength and attack its targets. As the expedition began, Huanglong considered future alliances and enemies while Law and the people of Dressrosa anticipated confronting Doflamingo.

  • The Desolate Dragon Group upgraded the Ark Maxim and its warships, assembled a fleet of thirty or forty vessels, and made the modified Impel Down prisoners its Push Division vanguard.
  • Lafitte asked Huanglong whether he would still deliver three aerial warships to Kaido, and Huanglong agreed to honor their deal after the expedition if time allowed.
  • Huanglong considered recruiting Yamato and Charlotte Pudding, and planned to deal with Doflamingo, Ochoku, and eventually the Marines and other pirate crews.
  • Trafalgar Law, Violet, Kyros, Rebecca, and the people of Dressrosa looked forward to getting revenge on Doflamingo and the Donquixote Family.
  • Jote, Kalint, Pizarro, Bartholomew, Edlago, Burgess, and the other Push Division members eagerly anticipated plundering the New World as the fleet set out.

Ch. 298Invasion of Dressrosa

Doflamingo feared the growing power of the World Government and the Desolate Dragon Group, then prepared for their arrival in Dressrosa. When Dongye Huanglong’s fleet invaded, Trafalgar Law attacked Doflamingo’s String Clone before it could reach the flagship.

  • Doflamingo worried that Huanglong would target him and considered joining the Desolate Dragon Group to survive.
  • Huanglong’s Flying Fleet approached Dressrosa, and Doflamingo contacted the Marines and Five Elders for help while preparing to flee with Sugar.
  • Dressrosa’s civilians panicked as the fleet descended and its Impel Down pirates attacked the Donquixote Family.
  • Bartholomew charged through the Donquixote Family’s forces in search of officers and Devil Fruit Users.
  • Doflamingo’s String Clone flew toward the flagship to negotiate with Huanglong, but Trafalgar Law attacked it with ROOM: Slaughterhouse.

Ch. 299Doflamingo's String Clone

Doflamingo’s String Clone fought Law and Moria while Doflamingo tried to bargain with Huanglong. Huanglong destroyed the clone, and Hancock petrified it before it could unleash Birdcage.

  • Law attacked Doflamingo, blaming him for shooting Corazon, but Doflamingo blocked his strikes and kicked him away.
  • Doflamingo’s clone confronted Huanglong’s group, where Enel revealed that it was a clone and Moria joined the fight.
  • Doflamingo offered half his family’s interests and subordination to the Desolate Dragon Group in exchange for Huanglong accepting him.
  • Huanglong blasted apart the clone’s head with a laser beam, but the clone began releasing strings to launch Birdcage.
  • Huanglong called for Hancock, who petrified the clone with Mero Mero Mellow, and Law shattered the statue before Birdcage could form.

Ch. 300King's Highland

Huanglong led the Desolate Dragon Group to Dressrosa to destroy the Donquixote Family, while Doflamingo tried to flee through the underground harbor. The group blocked his escape as Pica confronted them with a gigantic stone form, and Bullet and Pizarro prepared to challenge him.

  • Huanglong ordered the Desolate Dragon Group to attack Dressrosa, and Enel, Bullet, and Monet joined the advance as Monet vowed to bring Sugar back.
  • Doflamingo abandoned Dressrosa with Trebol and Sugar, leaving Diamante and Pica to delay the pursuers while Pica sealed the underground routes.
  • Nico Robin and Lafitte sent Kuma, Moria, Bege, and others to block the underground harbor’s sea exit, preventing the Donquixote Family from escaping the island.
  • Huanglong considered Vegapunk’s warning that the world would one day be submerged, then set aside the prophecy and focused on defeating the Donquixote Family.
  • Pica rose as a gigantic stone man before King’s Highland, and Bullet showed interest in fighting him while Pizarro merged with the ground to contest control of the island.
