Above the bustling, clamorous city, the Gate of Time and Space slowly opened, and a figure stepped out from within. It was Luo Chuan.
He stood on empty air, looking down at the unfamiliar city below, muttering to himself, "What kind of bizarre world is this now?"
Full of doubt, Luo Chuan released his aura to sense his surroundings. Yet after probing around, he was surprised to discover that this world did not have the slightest trace of any powerful beings. It was completely and utterly an ordinary urban world.
This was clearly not the world Luo Chuan had imagined. His brows furrowed slightly, and without hesitation, he prepared to summon the Gate of Time and Space again. But then something utterly unexpected happened—the Gate of Time and Space did not respond at all. A moment later, a message entered his mind: the Gate of Time and Space had entered a three-day cooldown period.
"I... fuck!" Luo Chuan could not help cursing, his face full of anger and helplessness.
"Didn't it say I had two chances to cross over? Why the hell is there a cooldown period!" he complained furiously, but the words gave him no reply or explanation.
Luo Chuan took several deep breaths, working hard to calm his turbulent emotions.
He knew full well that getting angry now would do no good. He could only accept reality for the time being, secretly swearing that once he found out where those words came from, and what background and purpose they had, he would definitely make them give him a satisfactory explanation.
With that thought, Luo Chuan's figure flickered. He flew toward the city center, found a deserted corner, landed on the ground, and walked out from within.
Luo Chuan strolled leisurely down the street, still chewing on the food in his hand.
As time passed, the food in his bracelet was gradually consumed to the last.
"I wonder if money from the Pirate World can be used in this unfamiliar world?"
He walked slowly along the roadside path, his gaze casually sweeping over the houses around him, each built in a different style. A strange sense of daze suddenly welled up in his heart. The scene before his eyes intertwined with the familiar sights of Earth from deep in his memories of his previous life, and he could not help sinking into recollections of the past.
Before he knew it, Luo Chuan had already walked past two streets. Just then, a pawnshop came into view. He reached into his bracelet, took out a relatively small piece of gold, along with several exquisite and beautiful ornaments.
Carrying these items, Luo Chuan strode into the pawnshop.
As soon as he entered, he went straight to the counter without hesitation and displayed the things in his hands one by one before the boss.
The pawnshop owner had originally been sitting there bored out of his mind, but the moment his gaze touched the items Luo Chuan took out, his eyes lit up instantly, as if he had discovered a rare treasure.
Those eyes darted around rapidly, revealing a trace of cunning and greed.
The shop owner quickly stood up and nimbly picked up each item, placing them on the scale to weigh them carefully.
After some calculations, he finally gave a quote: "Altogether, these things are worth 2.08 million."
Hearing that number, Luo Chuan looked at him with a smile, but his eyes sharpened as he said to the shop owner, "Boss, you don't think I'm some docile lamb for you to slaughter at will, do you?!"
A bitter smile rose at the corner of the shop owner's mouth, and he sighed helplessly. "Sir, please don't take offense. These trinkets you brought are indeed quite pretty and delicate, but at the end of the day, they're all imitations. For me to offer this price, I'm really gritting my teeth and bleeding myself dry to scrape it together for you."
A pained look instantly appeared on the shop owner's previously calm face.
At this moment, Luo Chuan said nothing more. He simply stood there quietly, like a silent mountain.
In that instant, something strange happened—the shop owner suddenly felt his entire body tighten, as if countless invisible ropes were binding him tightly.
And as time went on, the binding force grew stronger and stronger. Even his bones began to crackle, as if they might be snapped apart at any moment.
The intense pain made the shop owner unable to stop himself from wailing, but strangely, no matter how wide he opened his mouth, not the slightest sound came from his throat.
Only then did he wake up as if from a dream and realize that the one causing all this was actually the seemingly harmless young man before him.
All at once, a deep terror surged into his heart like a tide. He looked at Luo Chuan in utter horror, his eyes filled with pleading.
Luo Chuan stared expressionlessly at the shop owner and said coldly, "I don't want to see something like this happen a second time. Understand?"
How could the shop owner dare hesitate in the slightest? He hurriedly nodded in agreement, his head shaking like a rattle-drum, afraid that if he were even one second slower, his little life would be forfeit right here.
Seeing how sensible the shop owner was, Luo Chuan finally nodded slightly in satisfaction, and at the same time slowly withdrew the powerful pressure emanating from his body.
Once the pressure vanished, the shop owner collapsed limply to the floor like a deflated ball, gasping for breath in great gulps.
Only after more than ten full seconds did he barely recover. Having regained a little strength, he did not dare delay. In a flurry, he crawled back to his feet and prepared the money as fast as possible, then handed it to Luo Chuan.
After taking the money, Luo Chuan turned and left. Once he had completely disappeared from the boss's sight, the shop owner began gasping heavily again. He had truly taken a trip through the gates of hell.
He looked at the money pouch. There was only around 8.6 million inside, similar to the currency of R Country from his previous life.
"This money should be enough."
As he walked, a large truck driving in the distance suddenly charged toward a mother and child waiting at a red light by the roadside, as well as a beautiful woman dressed in a bunny-girl outfit.
The nearby pedestrians cried out in alarm and began fleeing, but the mother and child were already scared stiff, and the beautiful bunny girl had clearly been frightened as well.
Luo Chuan put the money pouch into the space inside his bracelet. With a whoosh, a wisp of cool wind swept through the crowd.
Bang!!!
The truck smashed the utility pole in half and crashed into the greenbelt, smoke rising from it. The pedestrians nearby hurried forward to carry out a rescue.
At the intersection on the other side, the mother opened her eyes and found that she was completely unharmed. Just as she was feeling puzzled, her son's childish voice rang out.
"Mommy, Mommy, just now it was Superman Big Brother who saved us!"
Listening to her son, the mother looked around but did not see anyone at all.
But if no one had saved the two of them, how had they ended up on the other side of the road, and how had they avoided that big truck? That made her feel very strange.
Unable to figure it out, the mother stopped thinking about it. She stroked her son's head and smiled.
"That's right. It was Superman Big Brother who saved us."
"Mommy, when I grow up, I'm going to be Superman and protect you."
"Good, good, good. My son is amazing. When you grow up, you'll definitely be an amazing Superman."
The mother fondly stroked her son's head and led him forward.
The beautiful woman in the bunny-girl outfit still had not come back to her senses. She could hardly believe what she had just seen. Was that really something a human could do?
The man who had saved her just now had not only been fast, he had also seemed able to see her. This was the first time she had ever met a boy like that. And had he touched her breasts, too?
At the thought, her pretty face could not help but flush.
"Who on earth was that?"
After calming herself down, the bunny-girl beauty got up, patted the dust from her body, and walked in the direction of the library.
After saving the mother and son, as well as the bunny-girl beauty, Luo Chuan had just come out of the supermarket. He had bought a huge pile of tasty food. He looked around and, seeing no one and no cameras, put all the food into his bracelet.
In truth, he was not afraid of being discovered or caught on camera. He simply felt it would be a bit troublesome. Besides, this world seemed unable to withstand too much of his power.
"I need to find somewhere to learn what kind of world this is."
As he thought about it, inspiration suddenly struck him. He could go to the library. Releasing his aura to search, he found the library before long. It was in the opposite direction from him, but that was fine. He disappeared with a teleport.
In a restroom inside the library, Luo Chuan opened the door and walked out. As he passed the entrance, he even smiled at the old man mopping the floor.
The cleaning old man's eyes widened. There clearly had not been anyone coming into the restroom, and he had just finished cleaning all these stalls, so what was with this young man? Could his eyes have been playing tricks on him?
The old man stopped what he was doing and began trying to remember whether anyone had gone in just now. But the more he thought about it, the more wrong it felt. And so, he changed his line of thought, letting it drift toward something ominous. The moment he did, his heartbeat suddenly quickened and his breathing grew rapid. He hurriedly set down the things in his hands and began rummaging for his medicine.
After taking out the medicine and swallowing it, he felt a little better. The old man shook his head. He felt he really could not keep thinking nonsense. After packing up his things, he clocked out early and went home to rest.
After coming out of the restroom, Luo Chuan arrived at the bookshelves and casually picked out a few books. He walked toward a table, preparing to sit down and read, only to unexpectedly see the bunny-girl beauty again.
The bunny-girl beauty also saw Luo Chuan. Their eyes met, and her heartbeat sped up as her face quickly flushed. She hurriedly turned her head away.
"Why is my heart beating so fast? Could it be... I... I have feelings for him?"
For some reason, the more she thought that, the redder her face became.
