Ch. 841Further strengthening
Plot and events
- One month after Xu Wuyi’s campaign began, all eleven strongholds he cleared have returned to normal operation, lifting their energy output above 90% of normal. Together with other reclamation efforts, the Second Astral Battlefield’s total output has nearly tripled.
- The True Dragon Star Realm joins the resource-cooperation framework. Xu approves its agreement on principle: every civilization follows the same rules, regardless of its attitude.
- With garrisons, defenses, and reserves stabilized, Xu learns more about the threat in the Fourth Astral Battlefield: Shen Du, a veteran Tier Three, Second Step lord, has fought a powerful Tier Three Star Beast there for millennia but never killed it. The beast remains active.
- Xu considers how Beast Kings hoard energy in their cores instead of integrating it into their bodies. His own cultivation is different: the Inner Landscape Tree circulates energy through his whole body, making every part of him an expression of order.
- He has Zero One send source essence crystals and refined Beast King remains to his cultivation room so he can test a new method of strengthening himself.
- While absorbing a crystal, Xu realizes his body—not his supply of energy—is the bottleneck. He guides some energy back toward the Inner Landscape Tree’s Fruit in his Sea of Consciousness. The Fruit and Tree change, and new roots extend into his sensory nerves and reach the surface of his body.
- These roots link mind and body directly, letting the Inner Landscape Tree sense his movements without the former gap between thought and physical action. Xu absorbs the first crystal and begins on a second.
Character development
- Xu Wuyi shifts from administrator and battlefield clear-er to focused cultivator. He is analytical and patient, turning observations from combat into experiments rather than simply accumulating power.
- His unusual cultivation advances toward a deeper unity of mind, body, and energy. He recognizes that strengthening himself will be much harder than it is for cultivators who merely store energy in a core, but accepts the greater undertaking.
Character interactions
- Xu Wuyi and Zero One: Their relationship remains efficient and matter-of-fact. Zero One supplies intelligence, resource assessments, and logistical support; Xu makes decisions and sets priorities.
- Xu and the civilizations: His approval of the True Dragon Star Realm’s agreement demonstrates his commitment to impartial rules over political reward or punishment.
- Xu and Shen Du: Although they do not meet, information about Shen Du’s long service and repeated battles gives Xu a measure of the dangers beyond his current jurisdiction.
Significant themes
- Integration versus accumulation: The Beast Kings’ energy-filled cores prove fragile, while Xu’s whole-body cultivation makes energy part of his structure.
- Order and transformation: Xu’s strength comes from reshaping the body into a system governed by inner order, not merely making it tougher.
- Discipline and impartiality: Shared rules apply regardless of political enthusiasm, while personal progress depends on careful observation and sustained effort.
- Mind–body unity: The Inner Landscape Tree’s roots remove the separation between awareness and action, marking a new stage in Xu’s cultivation.
