The long-legged girl waited for Joseph's carriage to pull away before she darted toward the back door of Paris Angel Company. After checking all around to make sure nobody was there, she leaned down to peer through the keyhole and saw an aged gatekeeper sitting in the foyer, gazing listlessly at the main entrance.
She observed the structure of the building, bit her red lip, and moved over to the neighboring foyer window. Pulling a thin piece of iron wire from her hair bun, she poked it through the window gap and fumbled with the latch for a moment before the bolt clicked open silently.
She pushed the window open a crack and leaped inside with a soft, agile motion, completely unnoticed by the gatekeeper who was less than three meters away from her.
The girl raised her hand and tossed a pebble at the back door, producing a sharp clack. The gatekeeper frowned and stood up to investigate.
Seizing the opportunity, the girl stepped forward, pressed her right hand against the back of his chair, and vaulted over like a spirit cat, vanishing into the end of the foyer in an instant.
The gatekeeper seemed to sense a gentle breeze sweep past and turned his head to look, but there was only an empty foyer.
Passing through a warehouse, the long-legged girl easily bypassed several clerks and appeared in the retail area on the ground floor of Paris Angel.
There were many people in the shop, but fortunately the clerks kept the number of incoming customers under control, so it did not feel overly crowded.
She glanced at the crowd squeezed like sardines outside the glass wall, a triumphant smile crossing her face, and turned to look over this shop that had piqued her curiosity for so long.
Next to the main entrance hung two life-sized oil paintings. The pretty women in both paintings looked almost identical, except that the one on the left had a dull complexion with a few pimples on her forehead, accompanied by a line of text: Before use. Meanwhile, the woman in the right-hand oil painting had smooth, fair skin that looked radiant and striking, with the text next to it reading: After use.
The long-legged girl walked leisurely forward and discovered that the shop had no display cabinets at all, only a dozen chest-high, stepped glass tables arranged in an orderly fashion.
On the glass tables sat various exquisitely packaged cosmetics, with the product names and prices marked on small wooden tags beside them, glittering brightly under the chandelier on the ceiling.
Accompanied by the soft piano music playing all around, the place was filled with a dreamy, high-end charm.
Even without buying anything, just taking a stroll around this shop was a pleasant mental indulgence.
Face mask? She paused in front of a cloth-like facial covering. What is this?
A tall, handsome clerk immediately walked over and bowed politely. "This miss, face masks are a new skincare product launched by our shop. They can effectively—"
Listening to his magnetic voice while her gaze swept across his solid, straight neck, the long-legged girl could not help feeling a little warm in the face.
Soon, the small bag in her hand was filled with a large pile of items including Angel Water, face masks, and hand cream.
The rules of this shop are so strange. You take the goods first and pay for everything at the end. She looked at her small bag and sighed inwardly. I originally only intended to buy a bottle of Angel Water, but ended up buying all this. Still, these things are just too tempting...
A matron walked past her, the cosmetics in the three bags she carried almost spilling over, while muttering under her breath, "To think I can just buy whatever I want without a price markup, oh my God!"
The long-legged girl was instantly relieved. See? Nobody can resist these damn good things after all!
She lingered in the shop for nearly an hour before she was finally ready to pay and leave, completely satisfied. The handsome clerk told her then that she could apply for a store VIP card to enjoy free delivery, complimentary greeting card writing, and other services, with silver and gold cards offering a five percent and ten percent discount respectively.
She asked cautiously, "What kind of status does one need to get a gold card?"
"Oh, no, madam. Anyone can apply for a card," the clerk replied with a smile. "You only need to deposit 1,000 livres in advance. This money still belongs to you and will be deducted directly from your balance when you come shopping in the future."
The long-legged girl was frightened by the 1,000 livres and asked again, "What about the silver card?"
"A deposit of 500 livres, respected madam."
When the girl squeezed out of the crowd and turned to look back at the Paris Angel sign, she suddenly stamped her foot bitterly. Damn it, I couldn't help myself in the end!
That VIP card cost a full 200 livres, and she would not be able to see any opera (This chapter is incomplete, please click the next page to continue)

plays, nor could she buy new shoes next month and the month after!
She muttered with a bitter expression, "If I'd known, I should have accepted Mr. Weston's reward last time..."
She stopped halfway through her sentence and stared sternly at her own reflection in the glass. Soleil! What are you thinking? You aren't doing these things for money, but for freedom and justice! Don't let money devour your ideals!
The next day.
The general manager and the specialty store manager of Paris Angel Company rushed to Versailles Palace early in the morning to report yesterday's sales figures to Joseph in his parlor.
The bespectacled old man, formerly the manager of Paris's largest jewelry store and poached at a high salary by Paris Angel Company, held his ledger and read clearly:
Products such as Angel Water and hand cream sold a total of 2,206 bottles, and 2,110 face masks were sold.
There were 71 regular VIP cards, 35 silver cards, and 40 gold cards.
He paused, put away his ledger, and continued, "The total revenue is 126,562 livres."
Although Joseph had been mentally prepared, he was still startled when he heard this figure. This was no mere shop; it was practically robbing a bank! He blurted out, "120,000? Are you sure?"
"It is 120,000..." The bespectacled old man glanced somewhat nervously at his side.
The flat-nosed, slightly lame middle-aged man beside him hurriedly lowered his head and said in a deep voice, "Your Highness, this is my mistake! I underestimated sales and thus stock was insufficient. After 5:30 yesterday afternoon, the shop ran out of stock, so the revenue might be a little less than it could have been..."
Joseph gave a dry cough and mentally awarded him a thumbs-up. True to form for the former Plymouth Shipyard general manager highly praised by Eman, he always felt he had earned too little for his boss.
He nodded. "Mr. Brent, actually this is quite good. Hungry marketing can boost customer enthusiasm for buying. From now on, stock 95 percent of the projected sales volume."
"Hungry marketing?" Although Brent did not understand the meaning of the term, he immediately nodded and noted down the Crown Prince's request.
Joseph knew that this kind of 120,000-livre sales day would be hard to replicate in the future, especially since a large portion of it came from VIP top-ups, meaning those customers would spend nothing when buying things later.
In addition, once the purchasing power of these consumers was released, it would take them quite some time to use up the cosmetics they had bought.
However, selling seven or eight thousand livres a day in the future should not be difficult, and most importantly, the brand effect of Paris Angel had truly been established.
This had to be put to good use!
After pondering for a moment, he said to Brent, "Please go back and contact the top workshops in Paris to commission a batch of jewelry, hats, and shoes. Use the best materials, the finest craftsmanship, and the most fashionable styles, regardless of cost.
"Furthermore, you must sign contracts with the workshops stipulating that everything made for Paris Angel cannot be reproduced in the same style without the company's consent."
"Yes, Your Highness." Brent nodded to take note, then asked cautiously, "Is this your intention to—"
"Brand these items with the Paris Angel logo and sell them in the specialty stores, pricing them at three to five times the cost. Treat them as secondary products, focusing on small profits but quick turnover."
