The Orderly Officer turned and left. Then Alvinzi's attendant brought a man dressed in plain clothes before him.

The man, dressed like a lumberjack, saluted the Commander-in-Chief. He pulled a slip of paper from the gap in his collar and handed it to the attendant.

"Marshal, General Bajachaza encountered the French Army at the Avio River this morning.

"The enemy has more than fifteen thousand men. The general is currently relying on the terrain to hold them back. He requests that you send reinforcements as quickly as possible."

Alvinzi immediately frowned.

The French had actually launched surprise attacks on both his left and right wings at once.

Fortunately, Bajachaza had responded
