Background
Ye Xishui is an evil soul master who founded the Holy Spirit Cult. Though over two hundred years old, she preserved a youthful appearance through exceptional cultivation and evil arts sustained by blood and death energy 35 39.
The Holy Spirit Cult prepared hidden blood arrays across the borders of Douluo Continent’s three nations, intending to sacrifice one million civilians to prolong Ye Xishui’s life and help her reach the divine realm 31. She is the mother of Zhongli Wu, the cult’s leader, and a direct ancestor of Yan Shaozhe 34 40.
Beneath her death-aligned powers, Ye Xishui concealed a second martial soul: the Bright Phoenix, a sacred ultimate-light martial soul associated with nirvanic rebirth 39.
Appearance
Ye Xishui appears as a peerlessly beautiful woman in her late twenties despite her true age. She initially emerges from a blood-red lotus barefoot and dressed in dark-red gauze, surrounded by deathly blood energy 35.
- Long dark-red hair and a distinctive tear mole near her eye 35
- Nine soul rings, with the outermost two being hundred-thousand-year red rings 35
- Her Bright Phoenix activation turns her hair brilliant gold and surrounds her with sacred golden light 39
- Following her defeat, she is left badly wounded and visibly aged after her cultivation is crippled 37 40
Personality
Ye Xishui is prideful, vindictive, and fiercely attached to her son Zhongli Wu. His annihilation drives her into a rage so extreme that she burns her own origin to tear through space and confront Luo Feng personally 35.
She is deeply protective of her beauty and reacts violently to insults about her age or appearance 36. She is also manipulative, exploiting Long Xiaoyao’s lifelong devotion when he arrives to save her 37.
Despite this cruelty, her decision to reveal the Bright Phoenix and burn her life origin to shield Long Xiaoyao shows that her attachment to him is not solely manipulation 39.

- Its power is described as substantially stronger than Zhongli Wu’s 36
- Was split apart and purified by Luo Feng’s Heavenly Kingdom Holy Sword and Divine Punishment Sky Light 36 37
Blood Shadow Soul-Devouring Abyss
Her eighth soul skill releases vast numbers of blood-red chains covered in vengeful spirits.
- Forms a net intended to trap and devour an enemy’s soul 36

Bright Phoenix
Ye Xishui’s hidden second martial soul is a sacred phoenix of ultimate light, with its own set of nine soul rings, including three hundred-thousand-year red rings 39.
- Represents light, vitality, and nirvanic rebirth 39
- Contrasts directly with her identity as the Death Goddess Saintess and founder of the Holy Spirit Cult 39
- Its final defense was shattered after resisting Luo Feng’s divine judgment for only a short time 39
Light Nirvana: Phoenix Dances in the Nine Heavens
A last-resort Bright Phoenix technique used to protect Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao.
- Creates a golden nirvana cocoon that repeatedly repairs itself while sustaining damage 39
- Required Ye Xishui to burn her life origin and rely on her rank 99 soul core 39
- Ultimately exhausted the Bright Phoenix’s remaining power and collapsed 39
Relationships
- Zhongli Wu — Her son and the leader of the Holy Spirit Cult. His death causes Ye Xishui to pursue Luo Feng in a state of grief and rage 34 35.
- Long Xiaoyao — A rank 99 Limit Douluo devoted to Ye Xishui. She initially manipulates his affection for protection, but later exposes her Bright Phoenix and sacrifices her remaining strength to save him 37 39.
- Yan Shaozhe — Her direct blood descendant. He pleads with Luo Feng to spare Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao, securing their imprisonment rather than execution 40.
- Luo Feng — Her enemy and the killer of Zhongli Wu. He defeats Ye Xishui, destroys her martial soul origin, and seals her cultivation 35 36 40.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Ye Xishui is identified through Feng Ling’s memories as the beneficiary of the Holy Spirit Cult’s planned mass sacrifice, which would use one million civilians to extend her life and support her attempt to enter the divine realm 31.
After Luo Feng kills Zhongli Wu, Ye Xishui tears through space to the Sun Moon Empire border and attacks him as a rank 99 Limit Douluo 35. Her Blood Soul Demon Puppet, eighth soul skill, and ninth soul skill are all overwhelmed by Luo Feng’s sacred abilities, leaving her critically injured 36 37.
Long Xiaoyao interrupts Luo Feng’s attempted execution, but is likewise defeated. Ye Xishui then unveils her Bright Phoenix martial soul and shields Long Xiaoyao from Divine Punishment Sky Light, severely exhausting herself in the process 37 39.
Yan Shaozhe intervenes before Luo Feng can finish them. Luo Feng spares Ye Xishui, strips away her remaining cultivation, and orders her lifelong imprisonment in the Sea God Pavilion 40.
