Background / History

Yin Caiwei initially manages Medicine Peak's cowshed and is responsible for its thirty Spirit Oxen. She introduces Li Jun to the work: feeding the oxen oak leaves and spirit herbs, replacing their spring water daily, cleaning the shed, and collecting milk each morning. She is scheduled to transfer to pill-furnace work preparing medicinal ingredients after training him. 6

She came to Azure Cloud Sect to learn alchemy and improve her life, but her experience has exposed her to the sect's harsh hierarchy. After failing an assessment, she is beaten by inner sect disciples; she later explains that cultivation is unfair to ordinary people without talent or resources. Her concern is rooted partly in her younger sister, whose pursuit of cultivation damaged her body and pushed her toward suicide. 14
