When Would There Be a Chance?

The Schuler Family home stood in a remote corner. Steve Schuler had been completely led astray by the United States' happy education system, which differentiated between elites and commoners, and had predictably become a high school Football Team player.

Even though he was already in twelfth grade and about to graduate, Steve spent every day either crashing wildly into people on the field or thinking about hormones. Naturally, parties were what he loved most.

Steve Schuler had a rather unruly personality and a foul mouth, so people were generally unwilling to hang out with him.

Under such circumstances, Steve Schuler resorted to the Franklin Rule, which was widely practiced in the United States!

Throwing a party cost money. The host had to provide the venue, music, beer, snacks, and so on. The more upscale the party, the higher the quality of those things.

Of course, the parties high school students held were generally the lowest-grade kind and did not cost much. Besides, Steve Schuler's mother was wealthy and often away on business, so the Schuler Family villa became a frequent party spot for everyone.

Although the high school students looked down on Steve as a person, no one could resist the temptation of a free party.

Kevin and Dan tagged along with Link and arrived at the party with the Youth Diva led by Lena. Along the way, Kevin kept secretly glancing at Dana Smith.

Link knew why. Though Dana was still a high school student, she was truly generously endowed. Even if she was not particularly sharp, who would care?

As for Gretchen, another member of the Youth Diva, her family was even better off than Lena's. However, she was the least conspicuous of the three and obeyed Lena in everything.

So although she found it strange that Lena had explicitly turned down her boyfriend Tommy and had instead come to the party with Link, she did not dare ask too many questions.

When the group arrived, high school boys and girls who had clearly dressed up came streaming in, either alone or in small groups. There were even younger middle school students hoping to crash the party.

As the party host, Schuler treated these people differently. If they were boys, he told them to get lost as far away as possible. If they were girls, he welcomed them all—as long as they looked like high school students.

In fact, neither Link nor Lena was attending a party at the Schuler Family home for the first time. When Schuler opened the door and saw them, he laughed exaggeratedly.

"Isn't this our famous Link? It seemed like you hadn't attended a party in half a year. I never expected you to come with Lena this time. Where's Tommy?"

At Schuler's words, Lena's expression turned cold. "Who I come to a party with is my freedom. Are you saying I'm not welcome?"

Schuler knew how formidable Lena was. She had countless ways to torment people, and if he angered her, he would probably suffer for it afterward. He could only curl his lip and say,

"How could I possibly not welcome the famous Youth Diva? Please come in and enjoy tonight's party."

There was not much to say about the party itself: blaring music, alcohol, and boys and girls in all kinds of outfits. After entering, they split up. Link and Lena chatted for a while, then found a suitable room on the second floor to review yesterday's lesson.

However, neither Lena nor Link expected that just after they shut the door, Gretchen would arrive at the doorway with Dana in tow.

Women were naturally gossipy, after all, and as Lena's follower, Gretchen knew Lena's situation well.

Although rumors had circulated since high school that Lena and Link were boyfriend and girlfriend, Gretchen knew there was actually nothing substantial between them.

A few months earlier, Gretchen had even heard Lena say that Link was like a little old man, and that someone with a personality like Tommy's was the type she liked.

Yet in such a short time, Lena had suddenly changed her attitude toward Link. Especially recently, she had often taken the initiative to find Link and chat with him during the day. This time, she had even rejected Tommy and come to the party with Link.

Gretchen had seen Tommy's ugly expression at the time. He had nearly exploded, but she knew Tommy did not have the nerve to cause trouble for Link.

After all, when Tommy had mistaken Link for Lena's boyfriend and gone to warn Link to stop tutoring Lena, he had learned a painful lesson. For a long time afterward, he had not even dared get too close to Lena.

It was only after confirming that Lena and Link were not truly boyfriend and girlfriend that Billy dared approach Lena and become her boyfriend.

Since Lena did not say anything, Gretchen did not dare ask why Lena's attitude toward Link had changed so drastically. Still, her curiosity would not let her rest until she got to the bottom of it.

So although they appeared to have gone their separate ways at the party, Gretchen had actually been keeping an eye on Link and Lena.

After the two entered the room, she immediately pulled Dana to the door to eavesdrop. Before long, a string of pleasant yet incredibly penetrating sounds drifted out.

Not even the party speakers and all the surrounding noise could drown out Lena's clear, beautiful singing. When Gretchen heard it, she exchanged a glance with Dana, and both their eyes were full of astonishment.

Naturally, neither of them was completely ignorant, but this was the first time they had heard singing so beautiful and penetrating. At the same time, they could not help imagining just how wholeheartedly Lena had thrown herself into her studies to make those sounds.

The wooden room had poor soundproofing to begin with, and Lena's voice was far too penetrating. The sounds could even be faintly heard downstairs, drawing many people over.

Gradually, besides Gretchen and Dana gathered at the door, many others also crowded around it. Some even went into the room next door.

The blissful singing continued for more than an hour, leaving a deep impression on everyone. Even after the party ended, everyone left the Schuler Family home in a daze. Dana could not help saying to Gretchen,

"Was it really that blissful? But why had I never..."

"That was indeed true bliss!" Gretchen nodded.

"Link Bennett really was a true man, unlike ordinary men. No wonder Lena had seemed to change her attitude toward Link overnight. He could give a woman perfect romance!"

"Yes, Lena was truly lucky." Dana could not help agreeing. "Just listening to her singing let you feel her happiness and joy."

Gretchen looked at Dana and said, "Don't worry, we'll have our chance too. Didn't you notice today? Link isn't a fool like Tommy, completely bewitched by Lena. Lena can't have him all to herself!"

Dana nodded heavily, then looked down at her chest and murmured, "I hope so too. I just don't know when I'll get a chance. Just thinking about it feels wonderful..."
