His head swam, and when Link came to again, he saw a somewhat familiar ceiling: his own home in Texas. Checking the time, he found that only a few seconds had passed since he left.
Subtracting the time it took him to regain his senses, not even a second had actually passed. Link could not help marveling at how powerful the system was. There had to be some astonishing secret behind it, but he lacked the ability to investigate it for now.
For the moment, he should check his rewards.
With that thought, Link opened the system panel and immediately saw a prompt: "Mandatory mission completed: eliminate the vampire and fulfill Jonathan's wish. Reward: Curved Shot Technique."
The mission's final reward did not include Evolution Points, but the Curved Shot Technique was enough. Besides, by eliminating a large number of Corpseborn in the mission world, Link had earned a substantial amount of Evolution Points.
At the same time, the mission completion prompt left Link with a subtle feeling. According to the mission prompt, Jonathan had issued the mission, but during their earlier interactions, Jonathan had seemed completely unaware of it. Link had no idea why the system had issued such a mission.
As usual, the system gave no answer to Link's questions. He could only set those doubts aside and begin taking stock of his gains.
Link had a great need for Evolution Points. Attributes such as perception and intelligence were difficult to improve through ordinary methods alone. Even for the other basic attributes, training became increasingly ineffective as they rose higher. Evolution Points would only become more important in the future.
Next, Link reopened the Stats Panel and clearly saw what he had gained after this mission:
