"Your Highness, please wait a moment. Lord Epsilon will be here shortly." A Two Fingers priest bowed deeply, then withdrew through the door.
Lucia quietly surveyed the furnishings around him. From the moment he had entered the Two Fingers Church, he had noticed how much more modest and unadorned it was than the other churches in the royal capital. It was far smaller than both the Erdtree Grand Cathedral and the Ancient Dragon Cathedral, and even its interior furnishings were exceedingly simple.
The walls in sight were merely built from plain white stone blocks. The roof and corners were bare of magical lamps, with only the minimum number of candles left burning to provide light.
More unusual still, the church had no chapel or prayer rooms for worshippers. It consisted solely of a dozen or so small halls for the priests.
It seemed that from the very beginning, the church had not been meant to attract worshippers or preach doctrine. It was simply a Holy Land where the priests served the Two Fingers, who in turn communed with the Greater Will and listened for divine revelations.
Lucia waited less than two minutes before the Golden Order Sacred Seal appeared in the air. Golden light gathered into the form of Epsilon, the Two Fingers. It still wore a white robe embroidered with the Elden Ring, and below the waist were those two golden legs that made Lucia profoundly uncomfortable.
"Your Highness," it said, bowing deeply. "Had you summoned me, I would have gone to Valeria Hall at once. There was no need for you to trouble yourself with a personal visit."
"Envoy Epsilon, you're too kind. Please, sit." Lucia smiled and nodded.
Epsilon bowed slightly once more, then settled into a specially made, oversized chair.
