Director Liu personally verifies Fang Bai's Lightning Element awakening after being notified by Magic City Third Middle School. Although the academy's enrollment had closed, he authorizes Fang Bai's exceptional admission in recognition of Fang's parents' service at the Wall, while making clear that Martial Academy training and Beast Tide combat carry a real risk of death. 3

He subsequently collects the academy's special-enrollment candidates—Fang Bai, Xiao Yuan, Qi Tian, and A Xiu—personally driving them to their second-year assessment.
