Ever since listening to Kui Lian and the other two discuss Konoha that day, the people of Sunagakure had fallen into a deep longing for Konoha.
They wanted to live those kinds of days too—eating tofu with prawns, bean sprouts stuffed with ham, and cabbage hearts served with superior broth. Unfortunately, real Sunagakure had only coarse fare like wheat cakes and sand dumplings.
Sunagakure was not wealthy. Reto did not possess Magnet Release and could not pan for gold in the desert like the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, to earn extra income. Even if Konoha could supply large quantities of affordable food, Sunagakure could only try to buy cheap, filling things.
That day, Chiyo was teaching at school.
The Sunagakure school was one of Konoha's main aid recipients. The outer packaging of every batch of aid supplies was covered in the Will of Fire.
As a result, aside from Konoha Academy, students at the Sunagakure school could now sing "We Are the Successors of the Will of Fire." Other Uchiha Yan songs, such as "My Konoha" and "Me and My Konoha," were also immensely popular in Sunagakure. Even students who could not sing them would hum along for a line or two.
Today, the teacher assigned a task: finding pen pals. Sunagakure students would write letters to Konoha students, using this method to learn about one another.
Chiyo did not know what she wanted to write. What she knew of Konoha was limited to the Left Attendant Minister Tofu, Silver-Inlaid Bean Sprouts, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, and Clear Broth Cabbage that Lord Kui Lian had described that day.
So, Chiyo began writing in her letter about her yearning for Konoha's cuisine—after hearing Kui Lian and the others that day, even the wheat cakes she had once found fairly tasty now
