Background

Lin Changsheng transmigrated into the body of a sixteen-year-old orphan in Pasture City. The body was chronically frail, suffering chest tightness and shortness of breath from an unknown condition; his parents had left only three tiled rooms and dwindling savings. He initially survived by helping at Yan Zhen’s noodle shop. 1

His turning point came when he awakened The Great Dao Is Simplicity panel. It identified his illness as Yin Energy Invasion and allowed him to spend silver to simplify cultivation methods, martial arts, skills, and formulas. Determined to cure himself and avoid dying a second time, he pawned inherited jade to pay the Iron Hand Martial School’s entry fee. 1 2

Lin initially appears as a pale, sickly youth in clothes washed white from wear. His illness and thin frame lead others to underestimate him as a harmless scholar. 1 4

Personality

Lin is cautious, practical, and intensely survival-oriented. He avoids displaying abnormal progress too early, keeps his cultivation concealed, and prefers building strength and resources before confronting stronger factions. 3 11 22

He is also ruthless toward people who threaten him or those under his protection. He lures Tie Yang and Li San to an isolated canal bank before killing them, exterminates the Green Snake and Black Tiger Gangs, and refuses to leave hostile attackers alive after the assault on his home. 4 8 24 28

Despite this ruthlessness, Lin keeps promises and repays kindness. He protects Yan Zhen from Ma Zhankui, honors his agreement to deliver news of Gao Yang’s death, shelters the injured Yu Wenjing, and cares for the little white fox after it exhausts itself activating the Fire Origin Formula. 3 4 33 46
