Harsh criticisms echoed in Peter Parker's mind, causing him to open his eyes with a sense of annoyance.

He didn't know what was happening to him.

Ever since a spiderweb suddenly appeared in his mind a few days ago, these voices had been appearing in his ears from time to time.

"Spider-Man? Are they talking about me?" Peter clutched his head and walked into the bathroom. After splashing some water on his face to clear his head, he looked directly at his reflection in the mirror and spoke.

About a month ago, he had been bitten by a spider during an extracurricular science outreach activity with his classmates.

That night, he developed a high fever.

When he woke up the next day, he found his body had become extraordinary.

Over the next week, he roughly figured out what had happened to him: he had been bitten by a spider and inexplicably gained spider-like abilities.

But he didn't know what to do with this power.

Perhaps he could become a world-saving hero like Iron Man or Captain America on TV?

Peter had seen videos of Sokovia; that incident happened around the same time he was bitten by the spider.

He remembered the scene of the Hulk and a giant version of Iron Man fighting, and they had even seen a live broadcast of it!

Because of that, many of his classmates believed the Hulk should be killed.

Although he did disappear later, and Peter didn't know if Iron Man had taken him away or if he was secretly imprisoned.

Initially, Peter worried he might end up like the Hulk. However, his admiration for the Avengers and his desire to become a hero motivated him to use this power.

So, he found the acting costume he used in the school's drama club, added some high-molecular fiber materials, and made his own hero suit!

—Just like Iron Man's Iron Man Armor, the Hulk's shorts, and Captain America's star-spangled suit.

Peter considered the suit his symbol!

Then, following a strange synthesis recipe that appeared in his mind, he secretly used materials from the school during a lab class to create incredibly resilient artificial web fluid and web-shooters.

And so, he became a friendly neighborhood hero. Some people, because of his attire and his ability to shoot webs from his hands, called him: Spider-Man, Spider-Boy, Spider-Man, and so on.

Although opinions were mixed and many thought he was meddling, he enjoyed it.

But a few days ago, things started to change.

After that strange spiderweb appeared in his mind, some peculiar voices began to emerge.

Although he couldn't see who was speaking, Peter had a strange intuition that these voices were indeed talking about him!

"But why are they talking about me?"

"Other Spider-Men? Are there others in the same situation as me?"

Peter wiped the water from his face and lay back down on his bed.

He had to force himself to sleep because it was already three in the morning, and he had something important to do tomorrow!

Tony Stark, the famous Iron Man, had sent a letter stating he would visit him tomorrow!

"Why would Mr. Stark want to see me? Could it be that he discovered my real identity and wants to invite me to join the Avengers?" Peter thought excitedly, slowly closing his eyes.

As he closed his eyes, the giant spiderweb in his mind reappeared before him.

But this time, the spiderweb was different from before!

At one of the intersection points of the many threads on the spiderweb, a strange bright spot appeared!

"What is this?"

Peter curiously focused his consciousness on that bright spot.

The next moment...

"Ah!"

He felt as if his consciousness was being pulled out of his body, and then instantly sucked into that bright spot!

"Where am I?"

When Peter came to his senses, he found himself no longer in his bed at home but in a small, confined room.

In front of him was a small table made of boxes, with several photos and a pile of documents on it.

"Ah!"

At that moment, Peter cried out.

In his mind, a nerve was trembling violently. If he looked closely, he could see a glowing neural filament slowly reaching towards a glowing point on the giant web within the brain.

As the filament connected with the light spot, countless fragmented memories flooded into his mind!

It was now 1933, and New York was in the throes of the painful Great Depression.

Because he had angered the wrong people, his Uncle Ben Parker had been tortured and murdered by Norman Osborn, New York's biggest extortionist, the "Green Goblin."

Simultaneously, the Green Goblin had extended his dark and wicked hand towards Aunt May and him—Peter Parker, attempting to kill them both.

Fortunately, they were saved by Ben Urich, a photographer for the Daily Bugle. Peter, due to his personality, earned Urich's admiration and became his assistant.

During a recent operation to secretly photograph a deal between the Green Goblin and the mob, Peter was accidentally bitten by a spider that crawled out of a cursed spider statue they were trading. In an illusion, he met the Spider-God Anansi, and through this, he gained mysterious and powerful new abilities, becoming Spider-Man!

But because of this, he also discovered more things hidden in the darkness.

For example, the Urich he respected had actually been blackmailing the Green Goblin's gang, extorting hush money from Osborn by covering up their actions!

Not long ago, Urich told Peter that he was going to expose all the evidence he had secretly collected on the Green Goblin!

Peter didn't know why he suddenly decided to do this. Perhaps it was a crisis of conscience?

However, that very night, he was shot and killed in his home by J. Jonah Jameson, the very person Urich had contacted to expose the Green Goblin!

Fortunately, Felicia Hardy took the evidence Urich had hidden during the chaos and gave it to Peter.

From Felicia, Peter learned some of the truth.

Urich and Felicia both knew he was Spider-Man, and it was because of this that Urich decided to expose the Green Goblin and bring him to justice.

But Felicia told him not to trust Jonah!

Peter found it hard to believe. He still remembered what Jonah had said when Urich first brought him to the Daily Bugle:

"There are a million sad stories out there, Parker. But none of them are special in this tragic era, until... we make them special!"

"I can give them facts and figures, Ben's photos can make them truly understand!"

"I'll tell our readers how they should feel about the shitty situation this city is in!"

"This dark era needs someone to stand up and light it up, to show the darkness within the darkness! Your Uncle Ben and Aunt May were like that, and I, J. Jonah Thomson, am like that too!"

Could someone who said such things really not be trusted?
