Manchester United fans were very unhappy.
Nearly three thousand of them had gathered.
Holding banners and shouting slogans, they had surrounded Old Trafford's administrative offices so tightly that not even water could pass through.
They were not protesting the club's results. There was nothing to protest there.

He was immediately surrounded by murderous glares.
