Even half a mile away, Yu Ci could hear the demon's bellows-like breathing, accompanied by violent coughing. Looking through the Zhaoshen Map, he saw that the demon's originally gray-black skin was tinged with an unhealthy shade of cyan, as if it were suffering from a severe illness.
A demon with a severe illness?
These two seemingly mismatched elements coming together appeared rather absurd. In fact, Yu Ci had discovered this phenomenon a few days prior.
He found that many of these demons rushing out from the entrance seemed poorly adapted to the climate of the Sky Rending Canyon. The powerful demons were fine; after a period of lethargy, they slowly recovered. But those with slightly inferior strength were often severely affected, and the one right above him was simply displaying the most extreme symptoms.
Had not old Daoist Yu Zhou mentioned back at Zhixin Temple that the environment of the Blood Prison Ghost Manor differed greatly from this realm? The normal air people breathed was very likely poisonous and fatal to those demons.
Yu Ci had always suspected that this wave of demons came fiercely yet refused to ascend, willingly lingering in this relatively desolate place. Aside from the species circles in the Sky Rending Canyon that counteracted them, it was very likely that the environment heading upward from the nether regions exceeded their tolerance limits. Take the one overhead, for instance; its position was relatively higher up, so its reaction was correspondingly more severe.
Of course, for Yu Ci in his current state, this was also Heaven's Will lending a hand. He was now preparing to wield his sword and go up to clear away that roadblock.
Just as he was about to make his move, however, his upward-reaching body suddenly shrank back and slid down a short distance
