The Wreckage of the New Empire

After passing through the stargate, the Collectors arrived on the other side and were immediately met by countless autonomous ships, densely packed as they patrolled back and forth in close orbit around the gate.

The sight made their scalps tingle. It was absolute hell for anyone with trypophobia. Fortunately, the autonomous ships' friend-or-foe identification systems recognized the leaping biological cluster as friendly. They did not attack and instead opened a passage for the Collectors.

However, rather than seeing Serene people proudly waiting to claim credit from them, the Collectors found numerous New Empire warships that had already shut down and drifted naturally through space.

Many fragments and wrecks floated across the battlefield, but not a single one belonged to an enemy warship.

Everything they saw pointed to one fact—the New Empire fleet had been annihilated by the enemy during the battle.

"We arrived too late."

"I'm surprised the enemy was actually capable of defeating the New Empire fleet."

After learning that the New Empire fleet had trapped the enemy like a turtle in a jar, the Collectors had never considered the possibility that the New Empire fleet could lose. They had fought the enemy before and knew its capabilities. The New Empire should have had more than enough strength to deal with them. For the enemy's weapons to defeat the New Empire fleet was like someone using a bow carved from a wooden stick to defeat a fully armed regular army.

"Let's see whether there are any survivors."

One individual made the suggestion, and the cluster quickly approved it. Regardless of the current relationship between the Amoeba and the Serene people, finding survivors would allow them to obtain the most complete information possible about how the New Empire fleet had been defeated.
