Interference Mechanism (Part 2)

Now, it could be said that the matter was settled. The result was just as Chu had expected: the Spirit Domain could not function normally under the influence of the Ripple Megastructure. Chu could finally explain the principles involved without concern.

Chu was unlike Si. It was not a research-oriented entity specializing in scientific fields, so before a conclusion had been reached, it could not be certain.

"I don't understand. Explain it."

Chu's explanation had been too vague for the Collectors to understand. They needed a more detailed explanation of why spacetime ripples affected the Spirit Domain.

"Then let me put it simply—if I asked you to do something for me, wouldn't I first need to tell you exactly what to do?"

After some thought, Chu offered an analogy.

"Correct."

The Collectors agreed, and Chu continued.

"Then the Spirit Domain is the same. Without a connection to this universe's information, it cannot respond. If those people want to use the Spirit Domain, they must establish an information link with it, and the Spirit Domain responds through that link."

One of the Collectors asked uncertainly, "So the Ripple Megastructure interferes with that information link?"

The Collectors tried hard to understand. They had come close to the underlying logic, but they still had it wrong, so Chu continued explaining.

"No. Since the channel for that information link is unknown, interfering with it would be extremely difficult."

"The Ripple Megastructure interferes with the Spirit Domain's channel for obtaining information from the universe itself."

It did not interfere with the connection between the Spirit Domain and its users, but rather the information channel between the Spirit Domain itself and the universe.
