Into the Relic Ring

"What happened afterward?"

They had finished reviewing the information they had obtained, but it was severely incomplete. It did not explain why the Baitu Civilization had been destroyed. It might have been related to the Spirit Realm, or it might have resulted from problems within their own civilization.

To uncover the truth behind the Baitu Civilization's destruction, they needed more information.

"That's all."

"That's all? The trail has gone cold?"

"No, don't jump to conclusions. We haven't finished exploring the stellar ring relic yet."

The ring within this star system was enormous, not much smaller than the stellar rings built by the Collectors.

At the same time, however, this relic ring was extremely fragile. Electromagnetic force could not demonstrate its strength in matter on a more macroscopic scale. At merely planetary scale, the strength of electromagnetic materials was already as soft as noodles, let alone at stellar scale. The material strength provided by electromagnetic force was practically nonexistent.

Out of concern that the relic ring might collapse, the Collectors did not dare act as recklessly while landing on it to explore as they did when mining and exploring planets.

Whether landing or exploring, the Collectors maintained their Collector forms rather than extending in root form while gathering matter and expanding as they explored, so as to avoid causing a large-scale collapse of the Baitu Civilization's relic ring through their actions.

That was not impossible. The relic ring had not collapsed yet not because it retained any structural strength, but merely because its orbit and the star's gravity had reached a delicate and fragile balance. Once that balance was broken, a cascading collapse would occur.

At that point, everything would fall into the star's sea of fire.
