The Zerg in Trouble

After unlocking faster-than-light technology, the Collectors' colonial expansion accelerated many times over. This was hardly good news for the Zerg, who had retreated to the Land of Divine Exile.

They had thought the Collectors would expand within the Gate World and become embroiled in a prolonged battle with the Seventh Stratum there, and had even voluntarily abandoned territory within the Gate World for that purpose.

In fact, the Zerg's judgment had not been wrong. Though the Collectors possessed formidable military strength, they could not surpass the speed of light. Interstellar colonization was far less advantageous than expanding within the Gate World, not to mention the many types of intelligent life within it that could serve as research resources for the species.

Unfortunately, even the Zerg could not outwit fate. They had never imagined that the Collectors' intelligence-gathering and analytical capabilities would be so powerful. Not only had they uncovered the deeper secrets of the Spirit Domain, but they had also learned how the Hui civilization had perished.

They had even less expected Amoeba to carve out, through the "science" they did not understand and without relying on the Spirit Domain, a path that allowed matter to break past the limits of light speed.

As one stellar system after another inexplicably fell, and at a faster rate than ever before, the Zerg began to panic.

They had no choice but to panic. When facing Amoeba in the past, they had at least known where their enemy was. After the Collectors applied faster-than-light technology, the Zerg could not even determine where to attack their clusters.

They were utterly incapable of resisting.

After arriving outside a target star, the faster-than-light biological cluster would not enter the stellar system. Instead, it would remain beyond the Kuiper Belt and dispatch small faster-than-light organisms inside.
