"There's no cloud? How could it be snowing?"
System gradually slowed down in midair. Though snowflakes drifted down continuously, the temperature at noon was still quite warm. The flakes gradually melted as they fell, and by the time they landed on dead leaves or plants on the ground, they had completely turned into snowmelt.
System beat his wings and flew higher into the sky. He wanted to find out what was causing this ice and snow.
Whether rain or snow, both were forms of water. Snow falling from a clear sky without clouds was extremely abnormal.
Even with snowflakes falling, the temperature at noon had not changed much. It was even far warmer than the first time System had flown above the clouds.
There was no wind in the forest today, and even high in the sky, the wind was not particularly strong. Though the snowflakes hindered his wings, the suitable temperature meant that flying several thousand meters into the air did not consume much of System's stamina.
At an altitude above a thousand meters, System discovered the truth behind the snowflakes' formation.
System sensed a peculiar aura. It was faint yet profound, carrying a trace of chill.
As this aura flowed through the air, grains of ice crystals would impossibly condense from the atmosphere.
Once the ice crystals reached a certain weight, they began to fall. As they descended, the crystals continued condensing further, gradually forming snowflakes in all manner of shapes.
And as the snowflakes continued drifting down, they began melting bit by bit due to the temperature.
Hovering in the air, System extended a tentacle and grasped an ice crystal that had just condensed in midair, then placed it in his mouth to taste it.
Other than being slightly cold, System could not taste anything special
