"So that's how it is."
System whispered, watching a black world-line drifting not far from him.
As System reached out to grasp it again, he learned even more.
In the long-standing culture of the Three Kingdoms on Earth Star, there was a legend: time was merely a dream of the creator god Brahma. Once Brahma awoke, everything in the mortal world would vanish along with it.
The events System was currently encountering were likely similar to this dream of Brahma.
In roughly a dozen years of Earth Star time, all worlds—including Earth Star itself—would face the conclusion of Brahma's dream and collapse in a thunderous instant.
The Golden Banana Federation world where he resided clearly could not escape this fate.
The original version of himself had created this world-line precisely to prevent this ending, or perhaps to flee from it.
The result was obvious: all other versions of himself had failed. After countless attempts, this heavy burden had fallen onto the current System.
In fact, had it not been for the message transmitted after the awakening of the Golden Banana Federation's world will, this world-line would never have appeared so early.
According to the normal progression, if System were living on Earth Star, he would have automatically received this message in about fifteen years.
If he were in other minor worlds, depending on the speed of time flow, he might have received news of the impending collapse in a few hundred or even thousands of years.
Whether he was on Earth Star or in any other world, if he could not change all of this—if he could not reverse or escape this crumbling end—he would remain frozen in that space of the world-line, eventually transforming into another world-line to continue searching for a way to break the deadlock
