On the flight back to West City from the snowy mountains, the temperature finally began to warm up.
Inside the cabin, Chen He adjusted his gravity vest back to three times gravity. Only then did his slightly congested muscles gradually relax. With both hands behind his head, he watched the clouds race past outside the window while mentally calculating the locations of the Red Ribbon Army's remaining branches.
According to the radar, the next Dragon Ball was deep in a primitive jungle to the south—General Blue's territory.
"Chen He, here!" Goku pulled out a huge slab of smoked meat from his backpack, crunching through skin and bone alike as he casually offered him a piece.
Chen He did not take it. He merely turned to look at Goku. The kid had not truly gone all out at Muscle Tower, but his aura was clearly steadier than it had been during the martial arts tournament. That was how Saiyan blood worked: as long as they kept fighting, their bodies would naturally adapt to intense combat.
"You eat it yourself." Chen He closed his eyes. "Once we reach the jungle, don't go following monkeys to raid bird nests the moment you see them. General Blue isn't on the same level as General White. The psychic powers under his command are a little strange."
"Psychic powers? Are they tasty?" Goku asked with puffed cheeks.
"They can freeze you in place, then blow your head off with a gun." Chen He gave a cold snort and rested with his eyes closed.
Though he warned Goku aloud, inwardly, he hoped General Blue's psychic powers would be a little stronger. The second-tier Shop permissions had been unlocked, but the bloodlines and advanced techniques that could truly transform him required an astronomical number of points. Ordinary grunts could no longer give him much of a reward. He needed stronger stimulation—such as... Mercenary Tao, the world's greatest assassin whom the Red Ribbon Army was about to hire.
Half a day later, the passenger plane landed at a secret outpost along the southern coastline. Bulma had to return to Capsule Corporation to upgrade the Dragon Radar's anti-interference module, so she did not come along this time.
The jungle air was stifling, like a massive steamer, and the mud beneath their feet felt sticky and slippery.
Chen He and Goku had walked less than a kilometer when the needle on the Dragon Radar suddenly began to tremble violently.
"Scatter!"
Chen He's gaze turned cold. He grabbed Goku by the back of the collar and used the recoil to slide backward more than a dozen meters in an instant.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Almost at the same moment, a barrage of miniature rockets fired from deep within the jungle blasted the spot where they had just stood into ruins. The remaining brush instantly erupted into roaring flames, thick black smoke billowing upward.
"Hahahaha! General White, that useless trash, actually got taken out by two little brats? What a disgrace to the Red Ribbon Army!"
Amid the synchronized stomp of military boots, dozens of elite soldiers in dark blue uniforms and skull armbands emerged from the undergrowth, their black gun barrels all aimed at the clearing.
At the front stood a man with short blond hair and a blue military coat draped over his shoulders. Wearing white gloves, he looked Chen He over with the arrogant gaze of someone inspecting an inferior life-form.
The Red Ribbon Army's strongest fighter, General Blue.
"Brats, hand over the radar and Dragon Ball in your possession. Then I might consider letting you die a little more quickly." Bulma's custom-made radar was far too precise. General Blue had had his eye on it for a long time.
Goku was about to pull out the Power Pole and charge forward, but Chen He raised a hand to stop him.
Chen He slowly took two steps forward, his hands still tucked in his pockets. Looking at General Blue's face written all over with arrogance, he did not even bother to hide the pride and disdain innate to a Saiyan.
"With those few broken guns under your command?" Chen He spat out a blade of grass, his voice cold and utterly devoid of warmth. "Enough nonsense. Where's your base? Lead the way, or I'll crush your bones one by one and find it myself."
Bulma's black card had more money than he could spend, but he preferred solving problems with the most practical and brutal methods.
"You arrogant little bastard!"
In Chen He's eyes, General Blue's pride and joy of an army was not even enough to fill the gaps between his teeth. Enraged beyond measure by Chen He's condescending gaze, General Blue abruptly waved a hand. "Fire! Turn them into sieves!"
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat—!
A dense storm of muzzle flashes erupted at once. Countless bullets wove into an airtight iron net and crashed down upon Chen He.
Yet, just before the bullets touched his clothes, his body swayed in a bizarre blur. All that remained in his place was a string of hazy afterimages created by his overwhelming speed.
"What?! That move again?!" The Red Ribbon Army soldiers stared wide-eyed.
Slash!
Before they could react, the two soldiers on the outer edge did not even have time to scream before Chen He's fingers, sharp as blades and charged with razor-edged energy, instantly sliced through their necks. The scent of blood immediately spread through the sweltering air.
Chen He did not stop moving. Under the pressure of five times gravity, his explosive power became even more condensed. With every flash, another body crumpled in the jungle—or another firearm was smashed into pieces by brute force.
Decisive in killing, ruthless in action. Since he had made his move, he would not leave behind anyone who could report what happened.
"Damn it! Get out of the way! I'll handle this!"
Watching more than half his elite force get cut down like wheat in less than two minutes, neither Bulma nor the Red Ribbon Army could have imagined they had provoked such a monster. General Blue's handsome face twisted completely, his eyes bulging as an eerie blue glow instantly locked onto Chen He.
"Freeze...!"
Bzzzz—!
An invisible psychic wave instantly locked down the space around Chen He. In the midst of his high-speed movement, Chen He felt his body suddenly grow heavy. Every joint seemed filled with lead, forcing him to halt in midair.
"Psychic powers?" Chen He remained frozen in the middle of a step, yet his gaze was terrifyingly calm, even carrying a faint hint of disappointment. "That's all the strength you've got?"
