At Qi City Magus Academy, Lu Xingshi smoothly became a Magus Reserve who had been enrolled for all of one day.
The city and academy where Fate's Favored resided.
To become a true Magus, one had to graduate from the academy.
Yet the first thing he faced after enrolling was not collecting textbooks, but several financial aid contracts laid out before him.
These contracts were all invitations from Magic Tool Mega-corporations. Once he signed one, he would become an employee of that mega-corporation. Not only would he receive a fixed monthly salary, but he would also be granted educational resources.
Once he became a qualified Magus, he would have to formally join the mega-corporation. His salary and benefits would rise dramatically, and he could even receive more resources to aid his growth.
Of course, these contracts had ranks. The one in Lu Xingshi's hand was the lowest, Iron Rank. Above it were Copper, Silver, Gold, and the highest rank, for a total of five contract tiers.
Different contract tiers came with different salaries and resources, and the positions one received after joining the company would differ as well.
For instance, Lu Xingshi was only Iron Rank, so after graduating and joining, he would merely be a basic Level 5 employee.
Those with the highest-tier contracts, however, entered the mega-corporation as Level 1 supervisors.
Level 5 was the lowest, and Level 1 the highest. Supervisory positions—especially Level 1 supervisor—were posts beyond the reach of most Magi.
Raising one's contract rank was simple: during one's time at the academy, one only needed to demonstrate sufficient potential and growth capacity.
After the Human Empire's Magic Tool Mega-corporations combined power, wealth, and authority into systems resembling corporations, one advantage emerged: the path upward was not sealed shut. Yet the drawbacks were equally obvious. Advancement
