"The job-change requirements for Inverted God—every one of the 'Caster: Arcane' level, 'Caster: Divine' level, and 'Caster: Psychic' level must reach Lv. 30? And I need a total of nine max-level classes?"
Higashino Makoto did the math in his head. Broken down carefully, that meant each class branch had to reach level thirty—three max-level classes per branch.
Classes in YGGDRASIL were divided into basic classes, intermediate classes, advanced classes, and special classes.
Basic classes had a level cap of Lv. 15, intermediate classes had a cap of Lv. 10, while advanced and special classes had a cap of Lv. 5.
Generally, intermediate and advanced classes required the appropriate basic class levels. Thus, to meet the requirements for Inverted God, he would need three Lv. 15 basic classes, three Lv. 10 intermediate classes, and three Lv. 5 advanced classes across the three branches.
Most importantly, the levels for "Caster: Arcane," "Caster: Divine," and "Caster: Psychic" were not shared!
The result of such a build was that he could only learn seventh-tier magic from one branch, while the other two could only reach fifth-tier magic.
If an ordinary player built their character this way, it would have absolutely no strength whatsoever—a pure garbage build, the kind that could even lose against a Lv. 70 player at Lv. 100.
Old Bones's class build in the original work had already been rigid enough, but this build was a hundred times more rigid than his!
Simply maxing out any one of those branches would be dozens of times stronger. For example, an arcane caster could still use divine and psychic skills; their power would merely be lower.
If he really wanted something more versatile, he might as well directly play the heteromorphic race Doppelganger. It could copy up to forty-five class builds, and its strength was fairly decent too.
"Still, while it wasn't much, YGGDRASIL did have at least a little balance. If there weren't an Inverted God class build, that would be one thing. But since it exists, its strength should probably make up for most of those previous shortcomings."
It was like Old Bones's special class Eclipse. Setting aside The Goal of All Life Is Death, its special skill Dark Wisdom could continually increase the number of new arcane spells learned by using the corpses of arcane magic caster players.
The fact that his MP was one and a half times that of an ordinary arcane magic caster was probably related to that class as well.
Thinking this, Higashino Makoto began checking Inverted God's special skills.
"Two passives and one super-tier skill..."
The first was the passive skill Trinity. The class levels of the three magic branches could stack, and skills from any magic branch would not be weakened.
Higashino Makoto roughly calculated it. Advanced classes naturally provided greater bonuses than basic and intermediate classes, while powerful class builds would probably only take one or two basic classes.
In other words, by that calculation, this build was still somewhat lacking in strength.
But Trinity had another effect: the player could split their HP and MP into three portions.
Although the total would not change, once HP was divided into three portions, it was like having three boss-like health bars. No matter how powerful a single enemy attack was, it could only empty one health bar. Put simply, that meant two extra lives!
And every time a health bar was depleted, all negative statuses would be removed. It was an absolute god-tier survival skill!
As for splitting MP, Higashino Makoto immediately thought of the class World Calamity. As the strongest wide-area annihilation spell in YGGDRASIL, Great Catastrophe required sixty percent of a player's MP to activate.
Wouldn't that mean he could cast Great Catastrophe three times in quick succession?
HP could seemingly also be used for skills that consumed a percentage of HP!
There was the class penalty of HP and MP recovering three times more slowly, but it was still an immensely powerful skill!
He just happened to be short one max-level special class, and the requirement for becoming a World Calamity was killing another World Calamity player. That could be solved with money!
There was no way every player with the World Calamity class was already dead or waiting around for the server to shut down!
After reading that skill, Higashino Makoto had already roughly mapped out his class build in his mind.
However, for this build to work, he first needed to reach at least Lv. 91 within three days.
"I can only say the skills are about what I expected—trading some strength for versatility. Luckily, the special skills are pretty good."
"Haha, average. Just average. There's still one skill left to see. Maybe it's some trash skill that isn't worth the cost. Hahaha—"
Though he wanted to level up immediately, sharpening the axe did not delay the chopping of wood. It would not take much time anyway, so he continued reading while commenting to himself and forcing himself onward.
The second skill was Lord of Hosts. Once per day, you could enhance an angel-type summoning skill. When enemies were nearby, a check would be made against their level and holy resistance—the probability depending on the difference in holy resistance and levels between both sides.
If the check failed, the monster would be summoned from another world.
If the check succeeded, the enemy would be directly transformed into an angel and become a follower.
The duration and strength of angel-type creations would be greatly increased. While the creations existed, each one would provide a small boost to your attributes.
Higashino Makoto had his character stroke his chin.
"So it's specialized for summons? Combined with skills and equipment that reduce holy resistance, there would be a chance to directly one-shot even players of the same level or slightly higher."
"Unfortunately, the chance isn't one hundred percent. My assessment is that it's inferior to The Goal of All Life Is Death."
"Still, if the converted angel-type monsters can exist permanently like the Bone King's Create Undead, then combined with enhancement buffs... this seems like it has real potential?"
Having finished reading the two passive skills, Higashino Makoto was already very satisfied with their power, yet he still looked toward the final skill with anticipation.
"Only one super-tier spell remains. Let's see..."
"Wrath of the Salt King."
Taken from the Biblical legend in which God destroyed the sinful city of Sodom with brimstone and heavenly fire.
Deals wide-area fire and holy damage, and inflicts the Judgment of Salt effect. The guilty will be turned into pillars of salt, with the effect depending on the enemy's karma value—
Was this a super version of the ninth-tier spell Nuclear Blast, plus The Goal of All Life Is Death with special effectiveness against evil?
"What does it mean when special effectiveness reigns supreme? I feel like, once I'm max level, if I duel Old Bones, I might beat him until he's crawling all over the ground looking for his teeth. If I ambush him, there's an even greater chance I'll send him straight to resurrection!"
Unfortunately... Higashino Makoto had no intention of confronting Old Bones head-on.
Honestly, Nazarick, where Old Bones was, was simply too monstrous. Holding back five hundred max-level players plus a thousand high-level hired monsters was an absurd feat!
If they could not revive after being killed, then perhaps, with the NPCs unable to make good use of the guild's resources, there was a chance of blocking them at the gate and trapping them inside the Great Tomb.
But if they could revive, then at least under the current circumstances, Higashino Makoto would most likely be hunted down by them until he could no longer revive at all.
The risk was too great. If both sides fought to the bitter end, it would only end with mutual destruction.
For now, Higashino Makoto only wanted to strengthen himself as much as possible. Since he knew the other side cared deeply about the NPCs, it would be enough to use negotiation (threats) to achieve peaceful coexistence.
After all, before Nazarick, he could only be considered at the "Junior Friend" realm!
