"I was just interested in her. I heard her martial soul was the Jade Phosphor Snake?"
Yun Chen shot Oscar an annoyed look, and Oscar immediately wiped that lecherous grin off his face.
"Yeah, her martial soul is the Jade Phosphor Snake."
"I heard quite a few people pursued her, but she turned them all down. One guy was especially relentless and pissed her off, so she poisoned him unconscious. If the dean hadn't personally stepped in, that guy might have died."
Yun Chen raised an eyebrow slightly. Even he was a little surprised by that information.
"Do you know who got poisoned unconscious?"
Oscar leaned over with a smug grin and raised his brows at Yun Chen. He was clearly enjoying someone else's misfortune.
Yun Chen leaned back against the sofa, his gaze calm and unruffled.
"Who?"
"Xue Beng!"
Yun Chen raised his brows, somewhat surprised. He truly hadn't expected the person Dugu Yan had nearly poisoned to death to be Xue Beng.
But thinking about it carefully, it was not that surprising.
Xue Beng was used to bullying men and women alike. And since Dugu Yan was probably quite pretty, it was only natural that the brat would go provoke her.
He probably had not expected to kick an iron plate this time and provoke Dugu Bo's only granddaughter.
Yun Chen did not even need to think about what happened next. The matter had surely been dropped, and Xue Beng might even have gotten a good beating. At the very least, he would have been punished.
After all, Dugu Bo was a Title Douluo, and publicly served as a guest official of the Heaven Dou Empire.
Yun Chen had his own opinion of Xue Beng. From what he had observed, Xue Beng was definitely not a good person.
After all, setting aside how Xue Beng had been glorified in the later parts of the original story, the early Xue Beng had truly bullied men and women, committed every kind of evil, and been a genuine villain.
As for the later generations' glorification of Xue Beng, or their explanations for what he had done before, Yun Chen understood that as well. Since they intended to place him on the throne and replace the legitimacy of the other princes, they naturally could not portray him too badly.
But Yun Chen did not like Xue Beng at all. He even despised him deeply. Some things, once done, were done. No matter how much you embellished or explained them, you could not change the facts.
The damage had already been done. You said you had done it deliberately, but what about those who had been hurt?
"Trash..."
Yun Chen muttered to himself, but Oscar beside him gave him a thumbs-up. He clearly agreed strongly with Yun Chen's view.
"By the way, Brother Chen, what background does Dugu Yan have? She nearly got Xue Beng killed, yet she didn't receive any punishment at all. It didn't even affect her in the slightest."
As Oscar spoke, he secretly leaned closer to Yun Chen. The expression on his face, as though he was afraid someone might notice, nearly made Yun Chen laugh.
After personally witnessing the incident, Oscar had been utterly shocked. Xue Beng was used to bullying men and women, and it was not as though no one had ever taught him a lesson.
But in the end, both sides were usually given a slap on the wrist. This was the first time Oscar had seen Xue Beng suffer such a huge loss, nearly even losing his life.
"Dugu Yan..."
Yun Chen curled his lips and gave Oscar a meaningful look.
That made gossip-loving Oscar scratch at his head impatiently.
Yun Chen's reaction naturally meant he knew something. But what did he do? He took a leisurely sip of tea and deliberately kept Oscar in suspense.
"Brother Chen, stop keeping me in suspense. Hurry up and tell me. I'm begging you, Brother Chen."
As Oscar spoke, he kept inching closer to Yun Chen, scrambling to massage his legs and pound his back. He even kept throwing flirtatious looks at Yun Chen, his expression as disgusting as could be.
Yun Chen looked utterly disgusted and shoved Oscar away.
"Go, go. Get away from me."
"I'll tell you."
Oscar instantly became serious and sat back in his original spot. Yun Chen had not even seen how he did it.
A handful of melon seeds had already appeared in his hand, and he had assumed the perfect posture, waiting for Yun Chen to begin telling the story while he snacked.
"Among the continent's Title Douluos, there is one whose title is Poison. His martial soul is the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor."
"And his name is..."
At that point, Yun Chen deliberately paused and looked at Oscar's reaction.
Oscar was smart. With just that little connection, he immediately understood that Dugu Yan was most likely related to this Title Douluo.
"Dugu Bo!"
"Dugu Yan is Dugu Bo's only granddaughter."
Oscar froze on the spot. The strongest soul master he had ever seen in his life had only been a Soul Douluo. He simply could not imagine how powerful a Title Douluo must be.
And such a powerful figure was actually the elder of one of his classmates. The immense gap in status left him somewhat dazed.
"Alright, it's the weekend today. Get some proper rest. I'll take a walk around your academy."
Yun Chen patted Oscar on the shoulder, signaling that there were some things he did not need to take to heart.
"You don't need to care too much about Dugu Yan either. It would be best if you could befriend her, but it's fine if you can't."
"You should do what you need to do. Don't mind her, and don't try to flatter her."
After his brief daze, Oscar suddenly burst into laughter upon hearing Yun Chen's words.
"Brother Yun Chen, you don't think I have any ideas about her, do you?"
"Hahaha, Brother Yun Chen, you're overthinking it."
"I was simply thinking that if Xue Beng offended Dugu Yan, he'd probably be dealt with terribly. Do you think Dugu Yan will take revenge?"
Yun Chen watched the carefree Oscar and chuckled softly as well.
After leaving Oscar's private courtyard dormitory, Yun Chen began wandering aimlessly around the academy.
He had come here once a few years ago, but he had told Qian Renxue that he did not like the atmosphere of school. Qian Renxue, who doted on him, had agreed to let him skip attending school.
Thinking about it now, he felt quite sentimental. Thanks to Qian Renxue, he had been able to have a fairly happy childhood and wander all over the world.
"Hey! Dugu Yan, what are you acting so arrogant for?"
"Isn't it just because you're a little prettier? What gives you the right to act so proud all day?"
The sound of an argument drew Yun Chen's attention away from the scenery. He looked toward a nearby path, his brows knitting slightly before slowly relaxing again.
A trace of surprise appeared on his face.
Dugu Yan?
Following his gaze, he saw a short-haired girl with emerald-green hair standing expressionlessly before two fairly attractive girls.
"Get lost. Stop bothering me! You two bitches!"
Dugu Yan stepped back in disgust and snorted coldly at the two noble young ladies.
"You! How can you talk like that?!"
One of the noble young ladies flared up in anger and pointed at Dugu Yan.
"Scram! Point at me again, and I'll kill you!"
Dugu Yan's face was as cold as frost. It was genuine killing intent, as cold and sinister as a venomous snake.
Interesting. She was a hot-tempered girl too.
Yun Chen watched the scene with great interest. Such a good show was not something one saw often.
