Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi raised a finger and pointed. An object appeared in the void.
It was a tiny banner, pale gray throughout, with a cloth no bigger than a palm and a pole as thin as a bamboo chopstick.
Yet intricate patterns of origin flowed across the miniature banner. Each seemed to hold the moment heaven and earth first opened, ancient and mysterious enough to make the heart tremble.
"Keep it," Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi said evenly. "If you run into any trouble, bring out this banner, and I will come at once."
Yellow Dragon reached out and took the little banner. A familiar aura poured into his body.
It was the origin of the Pangu Banner. Though only a trace, it was enough for him.
Once he brought it out, Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi could sense the link between the origin within it and the banner itself, then follow that causal thread to his side in an instant.
Yellow Dragon gripped the little banner and knelt.
"Thank you, Master."
Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi did not leave him kneeling. He lifted a finger, and a gentle force raised Yellow Dragon to his feet.
He looked at Yellow Dragon, his eyes filled with nothing but approval.
"Go," Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi said.
Yellow Dragon said no more.
He bowed his way out of Jade Void Palace, then turned and walked into the vast dusk of Kunlun Mountain.
As Yellow Dragon stepped beyond Kunlun Mountain's bounds, he caught a glimpse of a drifting white cloud flitting through the mountain. He took it for some little mountain spirit at play and paid it no mind.
