Spirit City was livelier today than it had been in a century. Gongs and drums thundered, firecrackers crackled, and every household was adorned with lanterns and colorful decorations. People celebrated in the streets—eating, dancing, and all manner of other things.
The countless facets of humanity were on full display throughout Spirit City, as though everyone were celebrating some grand festival.
It was not a festival, but it was close enough. Not long ago, Spirit Hall and Grace Hall jointly announced a major event—the current master of Grace Hall would formally marry two saintesses of Spirit Hall, one from the Papal Palace and the other from the Worship Hall.
And the wedding was today!
Although many of Spirit City's residents had no idea why there were two saintesses, or why both of them were marrying the same man, what did that have to do with them? Why did they need to understand it so clearly?
In any case, Spirit Hall and Grace Hall were footing the bill for all the holiday spending and decorations. As ordinary people, all they had to do was be happy! At most, some people sighed over the Grace Hall Master's good fortune before carrying on with their revelry.
Inside Spirit Hall's main hall, there was naturally none of the raucous celebration outside. Everything here was orderly, solemn, and dignified, after all.
The Pope's Holy Throne atop the platform had temporarily been moved from its original position, replaced by a red carpet that extended from where the throne had stood all the way beyond the main doors.
Mo Lin wore a black wedding suit as he stood on the red-carpeted platform. He was the center of attention for most of those present, quietly awaiting the arrival of the brides.
The hall was roughly divided into three sections.
