By the time Videl arrived at the scene, the police had already surrounded the bus beneath the overpass.
Red and blue police lights flashed wildly as the loudspeakers repeatedly blared, "Drop your weapons!"
The bus was still swerving recklessly through traffic. With a gun pressed to his head, the driver had no intention of stopping.
"What's the situation?"
Videl jumped down beside a police car and asked the on-site commander.
"A group of armed robbers. Their numbers are unknown, and they've hijacked the entire bus."
"There are over twenty passengers, including children."
The police captain wiped away his sweat.
"The bus is still moving. We can't launch an assault easily."
Videl glanced at the moving bus. Its windows were shut tight, making it impossible to see inside.
Worried about the passengers' safety, she could not wait for reinforcements.
She mounted her aircraft, lowered her altitude, and chased after it from the side.
As the aircraft drew close to the bus, Videl spotted her chance and stomped on the pedal.
She leaped off the aircraft and landed steadily on the roof of the bus.
The metal roof let out a dull boom.
The bus was still moving, its body swaying from side to side. Videl immediately flattened herself against the roof and gripped its edge with both hands to steady herself.
The robbers inside quickly noticed the commotion overhead.
A burly man with a buzz cut looked up, a vicious grin spreading across his face.
He raised his gun, aimed upward, and sprayed the roof with bullets.
Bang bang bang bang bang—!
Bullets pierced through the metal roof like rain.
Videl reacted instantly, rolling aside to evade them.
The bullets grazed past her waist, leaving dense clusters of holes in the roof.
She could feel the scorching heat of the bullets
