In the depths of the sea, a lone island lay like a trace left by immortals upon the ocean. Ancient trees towered over it, vines spread everywhere, and amid birdsong and fragrant flowers lingered an ancient, mysterious air.
At the island's center was an enormous excavated hole, within which seawater could faintly be seen spreading.
Several corpses, still dripping blood, lay on the lake's surface, staining broad swaths of it crimson.
The next moment, as the water rippled more violently, several silver sharks suddenly burst from the sea and lunged at the corpses.
With a tremendous racket, the corpses were torn into strips of flesh beneath the silver sharks' relentless ripping.
But just as the yin sharks fought over the meat, the shadow of a pitch-black staff came smashing down.
Boom!
It sounded like a thunderbolt exploding. Seawater splashed outward, and every yin shark was smashed into a mangled mass, leaving great hunks of flesh motionless on the surface.
Once the water had settled somewhat, an enormous figure was reflected in it.
A gigantic black ape tossed its enormous iron staff aside, then reached out with both huge hands and tore all the yin sharks apart. Before long, it dug out several perfectly round demon cores and tossed them straight into its mouth.
A look of delight appeared on its face as well.
After eating the demon cores, it dragged all the yin shark corpses ashore, then used one of them as bait again.
It settled down nearby once more, like a hunter waiting beside a tree stump for a rabbit to come crashing into it.
Behind it, however, stood a radiant spirit tree, on which a tiny fruit could clearly be seen.
The giant ape watched the fruit too, propping its cheek on one hand as it waited quietly,
