The reason I used the live-action [Transformers] films as the foundation was that the timelines and storylines of the animated series and animated films were far too chaotic, and they were nowhere near as widely known as the movies. So in the end, I chose the films as the template, with bits of the animated series and animated movie plots woven in. However, the latter two wouldn't make up much of the story.
