The Moon Base held a vast store of Earth's military technology—intelligence Starscream had gathered over the past century.

Human technology on Earth was not entirely worthless, or so Starscream believed.

In just a few thousand years, humanity had evolved from a Stone Age civilization to a pre-interstellar nuclear civilization. In his view, humans and Cybertronians had far too much in common.

Looking across the whole of human civilization, it was practically a history of war.

War brought death and destruction, but in the pre-nuclear age, it had also accelerated the development of technology and industry.

Leaving aside the more than thousand years during Earth's feudal and theocratic eras, when nations had stagnated in place, humanity had in fact used war to traverse in just a few centuries a path of development that many civilizations might fail to cross even in thousands of years.

Through constant warfare, humans had created a series of weapons of mass destruction—nuclear weapons, tanks, fighter jets, and more. Even Starscream, the Decepticon Corps' great scientist, found them quite remarkable.

Although Lightning held Earthlings in great contempt, the first thing he did upon arriving on the Moon was take control of the Moon Base.

After reviewing the various records preserved within the Moon Base, he made almost exactly the same choice as Starscream.

He changed his flight alternate form from a small Cybertronian combat airship, which could only rely on two energy cannons as weapons—tremendously powerful but also extremely costly—to an F-22, which possessed more diverse attack options while consuming less energy.

Lightning was incredibly fast, and his skill made him bold. Having also come from the guerrilla forces and flight units, he took the lead and flew toward the U.S. military fighter formation.
