Back in his room, Chen Wei gazed happily at the medicine in his hand. The old physician's words, "backlash," had opened the eyes of Chen Wei, who'd been blinded by a single leaf.
Perhaps it was precisely because he'd awakened two talents that something had gone wrong while he was making Dragon Power last night. The conflict between the two talents had kept him from controlling Dragon Taming Power.
Chen Wei could vaguely sense that as his Source Star advanced and his Appraisal and Dragon Taming Power talents grew stronger, the conflict between his innate talents would gradually erupt. Perhaps his powerful mental strength could suppress the backlash from his talents.
Thankfully, he'd persevered that day through sheer willpower!
A smile spread across Chen Wei's face. He felt that his luck today had been truly excellent.
He'd gone out to buy medicine and chanced upon a reclusive miracle doctor who'd cleared up his confusion and given him a solution.
He had Color Spirit to thank for that. She really was a lucky star; otherwise, he wouldn't have gone out to buy medicine today.
He'd memorized the medicine hall's name and location. If he ran into another problem, he could go back and ask the miracle doctor for advice.
A bottle of Rejuvenation Pills contained ten pills.
After slowly working the stiffness from his aching body, Chen Wei poured an appropriate amount of Vitality Powder into hot water and swallowed it along with a Rejuvenation Pill.
After taking the medicine, he couldn't help shivering. He felt his body gradually warming up, and his strength and energy quickly returning.
Oh? The medicine worked that fast?
Chen Wei was a little surprised. You really did get what you paid for. Power surged from every part of his body.
An hour later, Chen Wei nodded in satisfaction. His forehead still throbbed faintly, but he felt ready to go again.
He closed his eyes and meditated, sensing his condition. He could manage at least four more rounds of enhancement.
He circulated Source Power and summoned Color Spirit from his Star Ring.
"Ya!" (▼ヘ▼#)
Color Spirit still looked huffy, deliberately gazing away. But Chen Wei keenly noticed the corners of her mouth lift ever so slightly. She was clearly still very happy.
Chen Wei apologetically patted her head, then continued with the enhancement he'd left unfinished.
Color Spirit habitually tilted her little head, enjoying that familiar feeling of growing stronger.
If they kept enhancing her like this, she'd soon reach the first rank! Then she could eat all the delicious red Dragon Crystals she'd saved up.
Her snake mouth parted slightly, her tongue flicked out, and she blinked her pale blue eyes, looking blissfully happy.
Color Spirit: (~ ̄▽ ̄)~
Chen Wei sensed what Color Spirit was thinking and furrowed his brow slightly.
This little one's thinking was dangerous. Making a Dragon Crystal wasn't easy!
She wanted every last one for herself. What about her future companions? He couldn't let her get into the habit of eating everything alone.
"Half the Dragon Crystals are yours, and the other half are mine. Companions have to learn to share."
"Yi." (Okay.)
Color Spirit nodded, looking unconcerned. As long as it had nothing to do with the number of enhancements, she was willing to negotiate.
But after the enhancement, she'd also discovered a trick to communicating with him.
She had to be firm with Chen Wei and not give her Beastmaster a friendly look. Otherwise, he might take away some of her enhancement opportunities. The great villain in front of her had nearly taken away today's enhancements!
Chen Wei's expression immediately fell. Did this little one not realize that when he concentrated, he could sense her thoughts? She was actually badmouthing him right in front of him.
This little sweetheart wasn't working out. She'd only just finished her enhancement, and it hadn't even been a few seconds before she started letting in a cold draft!
"Do you not know that we can communicate our thoughts through the contract? I was in the wrong tonight. Don't go having such weird ideas!"
Chen Wei looked perplexed. He hadn't expected tonight's actions to leave such a bad impression on her.
"Ya!" (#/.\#)
Color Spirit's little body stiffened at once, her private thoughts exposed. After letting out a clear squeal, her tiny figure vanished from Chen Wei's sight and darted straight under the covers.
"All right, we're done with the enhancements for now. You should get some rest too. We have to get up early and train tomorrow."
Chen Wei could only remind her helplessly.
This girl always liked to curl up in a ball and lounge on the bed. He didn't know what she got out of it; she seemed perfectly happy just lying there without sleeping.
"Yi." (Okay.)
A muffled reply came from beneath the covers.
Following the old physician's instructions, Chen Wei began his meditation training for the night.
For the sake of his beloved pets, he decided to start a wellness regimen tomorrow.
The next morning, autumn colors were pleasant and the sky was clear as water. It was a fine day for training.
At the Beastmaster Association's building, in the beginner ice-and-snow training field,
a petite, graceful white jade snake sped across the icy ground as snowflakes drifted around her. Astonishingly, even as she raced along at such speed, the Cold Breath she continuously spat from her mouth hit each target with pinpoint accuracy, sending up showers of glittering ice shards.
As Color Spirit raced toward a boulder, she slammed her tail against the ground. Her muscles contracted as they pushed off, launching her petite body into the air like a spring.
As she tumbled through the air, faint blue Source Power swirled around her, and the ice crystal on her head gleamed with a cold blue light. Her snake mouth parted, gathering into a large, lustrous blue orb.
The next instant, the orb turned into a blue-white beam of energy and struck the boulder.
The boulder froze into a massive block of ice. Countless fine cracks instantly appeared across the ice encasing it.
With two earthshaking booms, the huge boulder shattered into countless chunks of ice, kicking up a blizzard.
"How do you feel now? Did you remember what it felt like?"
Watching the dramatic changes to the terrain caused by Color Spirit's Cold Breath, Chen Wei asked excitedly.
"Yi..." ∑(O_O;)(So tired...)
After unleashing that attack, Color Spirit seemed utterly exhausted. She weakly swayed her head.
"It's okay. Take a break first. You've made excellent progress with today's Cold Breath practice. Think back to how it felt when you released that Cold Breath just now."
"Hold on to that feeling. Once you can steadily release Cold Breath like that several times in a row, you'll have mastered Cold Breath at the proficient level!" Chen Wei encouraged Color Spirit.
Generally, proficient-level Cold Breath could only freeze and restrain an enemy. Mastery-level Cold Breath, however, could detonate the ice-type energy covering the enemy's entire body in an instant while freezing them, dealing considerable damage.
There was only one level between proficiency and mastery, but the effects they could produce were worlds apart.
"Yi-yi." (No problem.)
Chen Wei had thought it would take at least a week of effort to bring Color Spirit's Cold Breath to mastery.
He hadn't expected her to cut the practice time down to just two days.
Training a skill was no simple matter.
Although Cold Breath was only a first-rank ice-type skill, an ordinary pet would need to spend at least half a year mastering it.
Even compared with the information Chen Wei had looked up about Cold Jade Snakes, Color Spirit's rate of progress was truly astonishing!
Chen Wei mused to himself, Could the physical potential granted by Dragon Taming Power include every aspect of a pet's potential? Or is Color Spirit actually a peerless genius at skill training?
