Li Jing had barely finished speaking before he headed for the Li Residence. His deputy had no time to stop him.
The closer he came, the stranger it felt. Last February, everyone in the Li Residence had suddenly dropped dead. Then the Ghost Infant had begun to rise, until now it was on the verge of spiraling out of control.
He had collected the bodies of the entire Li Household himself.
As he reached the gate of the Li Residence, two familiar carriages came into view.

Li Jing drew a deep breath and followed the footprints across the courtyard. The newcomers had gathered in and around the Li Residence's ancestral hall.
The hall housed the memorial tablets of the Li Household's ancestors, but dust and cobwebs covered them. No one had set foot there in a long time.
Yet he could faintly hear movement inside.
At a glance, Li Jing saw a figure kneeling before the offering table. She wore a plain dress and had a gentle bearing. It was his elder sister, Li Yun, whom he had not seen in years.
Before he could react, he spotted thirty or forty burly men outside the hall.
Though they wore straw rain capes, the capes could not hide their hulking frames, each over two meters tall.
Li Jing had often dealt with Half-Demons. He could smell the rank odor coming off them, and his breathing quickened.
